Are there specific traits to each of the lines of soap that make them unique in how they perform? i.e. Is there a reason one would choose tallow+duck vs just duck etc...?

Hi Marcos

I created the tallow+duck first because I thought it would interesting to blend the two types of fats together. duck fat has a fatty acid profile that's almost in the middle between olive oil and beef tallow. Overtime I made an improved base with the duck fat. The tallow+duck is almost as good as the vegan base. Interestingly some people prefer the vegan over the tallow+duck and some are the opposite. The duck fat base produces voluminous lather, it does have slightly better post shave feel and is a bit slicker.

To keep things interesting Smile Sometime in February, I'll release a high tech olive oil base. It'll be composed of olive oil in large quantities, olive leaf extract and it will also contain multiple types of olive oil waxes that are used in high end women cosmetic products.

I had “Voyage” waiting for me when I got home from work this morning. This Soap smells amazing off the puck! I can’t wait to use it as this is my first Vegan Soap from Mohammad, especially since this is considered to be his flagship soap base. If it’s anything like his Duck/Tallow and Duck base offerings I know I’ll love it!

I'm really happy you like Voyage. Elemi and Patchouli are really nice together. I think it's one my most exotic scents. I look forward your thoughts on the performance.

vtmax if you have a moment would you mind commenting on the Scent of Conca d’Oro for me? This is one of the scents that sounded really appealing to me along with Magnolia and Dia. Thanks!

I shaved with the Mallard base today. My face feels so luxurious still. What an incredible soap.

Kind of a very slight tangy vibe to it. It’s orange...but it’s got another lighter citrus sense to it if that makes any sense. I have paired it with Sapone Di Paolo’s Arancione (orange essential oil) balm. Great combo. What I am certain of is it’s complexity lends to a year round scent not just a summer offering. Hella great! Wink

Thanks for the reply! The scent sounds like it would be right up my alley, I’ll definitely be adding it my my next order!

Awesome description vtmax, thank you. If I may add, other citrus in play: bergamot, lemon, lime and tangerine.

First Shave with GroomingDept “Voyage” Vegan Base Shave Soap this evening, and all I can say is “Wow!”. This is definitely the best Vegan Soap base that I’ve ever used. I have to admit that I’ve tried quite a few Vegan Soaps, and for me they just didn’t  stack up to the top Tallow Soaps in my Den. Based on several positive reviews I’d read here on DFS, and also because I’ve had such good luck with Mohammad’s other Soap bases, I decided to give it a try. Off the puck this Soap smells great to me, and was even better while lathering. I would rate the scent strength at a 7-8 out of 10, and its definitely present during the Shave which I really enjoy. This Soap can hold a ton of water which I love, and when I got the consistency I like the lather had a yogurt like consistency. I did a three pass Shave with touch ups using my Timeless .95 OC which resulted in a BBS Shave. For me, the proof is in the Shave, and this one was excellent. The lather had a lighter feeling to me on my face, but still provided plenty of cushion. After my shave I applied the remaining lather to my face while I cleaned up, and afterwards rinsed and dried my face. To test Post Shave feel I held off on the Aftershave, and my face is soft and smooth without even a hint of irritation. Nothing. Just soft and smooth. I’ve only used this Soap once so far, but after my initial impressions I believe this Soap Base can stand toe to toe with any of the other top performing Soaps in my Den. Well done Mohammad, I’m very impressed!

82 pages already for this artisan! Wow! I've only tried one which I borrowed from Michael P, and I have to say it is easily one of my favorite soaps. Congrats on a successful product and business.
