Thanks, Mohammad
GroomingDept for another great soap.
My experience with the Mallard scent was much the same as with the Aether: Not much in the way of scent when I first opened the jar and had my first shave. With the Mallard, I got hints of chocolate and sandalwood, and a teeny tiny bit of a hint of duck fat, which was not off putting at all. The chocolate, sandalwood, and vanilla expanded with the lathering.
I leave my soaps to dry overnight, uncovered, and by the next morning, the scent was very pronounced and quite nice. Spicy sandalwood, chocolate, a bit of vanilla, and that very slight duck fat scent was gone. I had a great shave with it yesterday, and this morning, I did a test lather, and the performance is remarkable, and the scent really blossomed having left it opened overnight.
My bottom-line opinion: The Mallard is top notch all around.
Super easy to lather.
The soap is very thirsty. I was so excited to try the soap, that I just loaded the brush and went right to the face. Didn't take me long to realize I needed more water, and the soap took quite a bit of it.
I think the next time I use it, I'll bowl lather so I can get a better sense of the amount of water it will take.
As I added water, the glide of the soap increased and was remarkable. Again, very protective, lots of cushion. This soap is in L&L neighborhood as far as density and glossiness of the lather. Just beautiful.
Post shave was phenomenal-maybe just a hair more protective/dense than the Aether, but only slightly. Definitely not the usual 'heavier' tallow post shave. Left the excess lather from the brush on the face while I cleaned up my gear, and it the feel after rinsing was exceptional. Soft, non-greasy. My face still feels great this morning.
Congrats on another successful launch-I'm looking forward to using the Creedence and Ambrosia!
