Then, when absolutely certain that the soap (aftershave, what not) is ready for release, announce the exact date 5–7 days in advance.
My thought is to only announce a definitive date when all the product is actually in stock. (That is, manufactured, cured, in jars, with labels, etc.) That way, the date will hold and will not have to be pushed back.
(My guess is that announcing a release 5–7 days in advance would then give most customers time to prepare for said release. Just a thought.)
