Nice review grim! I'm on vacation and mine is just sitting in the mail box... I am excited to try it. Other reviews I've read have highly praised the soap. However, I guess any review, glowing or otherwise should be taken with a grain of salt if the soap has only been sampled once or twice.
Excited to try mine when I get home and formulate my own opinion.

Well I didn't know TSEvangelist had done his video thing here http://damnfineshave.com/thread-shaving-...-hard-soap until it was pointed out to me. I guess he liked it.

Since I consider Eucris a "barbershop" scent, I cannot say its "the best" scent because C'mon, if James Bond used it, you know it has to be good. But seriously, I do consider Eucris a better barbershop scent.  In terms of "performance", in keeping with my other thread, I will say there are better soaps "for me". Then again, they cost a lot more and its the law of diminishing returns. But I stand by my statement in that this soap has the entire package at a reasonable price point for the masses.

The packaging, the logo, and the amazing scent, along with the aggregate technical performance is certainly worth the price point, putting it into a position where ...

it could easily become an American Classic an ICON

If Fine Accoutrements had the distribution network and the wet shaving market was large enough to support a $12.50 soap in supermarkets and drug stores becoming easily as available as VDH or Williams, IMO, American Blend Shaving Soap could become an icon on the level of Old Spice.  Thirty years from now, young folks today could look back and talk about “back in the day” when this scent exploded on the market in both a soap and AS.

Oh, and the package ... please, no tubs. I don't want to pay $5 more for a piece of plastic or $100 more for some piece of ceramic to sit in a closet. It's just fine (did you see that coming?) the way it is and PERFECT for mass marketing.

I placed an order and should be receiving it shortly. I agree 100% about the scent and packaging being my favorite out of any product I own and it is something I could use daily. I just hope the performance is up to par. While your review is overly positive on those aspects I am curious about performance.

Loved the read grim! Thanks for posting.

How did it fit in the MW container? Was it relatively loose or tight?

Height was fine. Diameter was a bit loose. I had to hold it for a few minutes but after that, it just sort of stuck.

Thanks for the review!

Can't wait to get mine.

A bit bummed it had to go from the Netherlands to Fine and from Fine back to the Netherlands but I'm excited to try it.

Thanks for the reply mate! That's helpful since I'm about to have an empty MW tub.

Nice review. I finally have some time, so I go in to order a puck, and some L'Orange, and the soap is out of stock. Damit. *putting card back in wallet, closing tab*

I posted elsewhere about the AB strength. I normally use it in the mornings as it is a strong scent, in essence, I too use it in place of cologne.

Maybe Maggard still has some.
