Great scent Eucris is (have the cream). If only Trumper would get their act together and tweak their hard soaps, we'd have another winner.

Is this soap exactly like Tabac except for the scent? Tabac is one of my all time favorites if not my very favorite, I bought a Fine puck but it's not due to arrive yet for maybe a month from now.

I'm tempted to get 2 more pucks just for stocks but I'm not so sure if I should.. on one hand I'm curious about this soap, on the other hand I see a Tabac puck being sold for about $9.99 uggh, choices like these are really hard to make when you're not in the CONUS!

Suggestions gents? Blind buy 2 more FINE?

Hmmm I'm actually curious about his Platinum scent. I'm a big Aventus fan..

I've yet to try the Fine, but, technically, they aren't (for better, or worse) exactly the same.
Besides the different scent compounds, the Fine has a bit more water, and doesn’t contain Titanium Dioxide (a white colorant/filler).
Moreover, they are manufactured in different countries/facilities.
That said, I'm not surprised to read they perform very similarly.

I agree. I did a side by side comparison of the ingredient list and there is a slight difference. I dont think the true maker of his soap has been revealed yet but if I were to cast a GUESS, I would say Fitgar. I have scant evidence to support this guess though. I dont think Fitgar makes triple milled soap, and the Fine soap looks like it might be. I enjoy investigating things like this and look forward to finding out just who is the true maker of the soap. I think with MR. Fine's connection with Joe from IB, and from Joe's connections, I think we will all be presently surprised.

Really good review grim. I was able to order some from Italian Barber. If it's the same soap formulation as Tabac, I would consider that to be a big plus.

I am so confused as the base of this soap. If you read the last line, I take it to me "it's close but not the same"...so it's basically like any other quality hard soap.

I've read Tabac is better post shave, the ingredients are different and it's not made by the same company

What does it have in common? Considering Tabac is still around, how does that work with Fine using them as a comparison in their official description?

Not sure here either although I do recall that Todd saying that they had invested in reverse engineering Tabac [$3000 USD?] to no avail then found a European supplier offering a base with the same ingredient list not including fragrance. Sounds as if that may have changed unless the inert ingredients were altered to meet Fine specs.

Regardless, looking forward to trying first hand.
