Feather blades: Love/Hate ?

I started with Feather blades in a Feather Popular razor.  Blades where awesome in this VERY mild razor.  Upgraded in aggression with a ATT S2, Feathers really cut me up. Lol  Now a few months later, after refining technique and skills, revisited Feather blades.  So far I am impressed with the ease of a real real close shave with no cuts or irritation, however,  needs the utmost of care. Maybe not worth the extensive concentration? My go to has been Astra SP, best for me in closeness and less irritation...

How about you?  Love? Hate? Why? Any cool gory stories?

DE blades? When I shaved DE, yes, loved 'em. SE blades, less so ... certainly not as much as GEM PTFE. As shaper blades (for vintage Weck, for example) lovely ... great sound, almost like a hollow ground.

I don't love or hate them (the DE version). I can get two incredibly close shaves from them and then they just die. No slowing down, no warning, just dead. There are other blades out there that give me close comfortable shaves, cost the same or less, and last through a full week's worth of shaves. For that reason, I haven't used a Feather in quite some time.

I use the feather exclusively one shave and bin IMO the feather is an excellent blade, smooth an comfortable.

I'm a one-and-done head shaver. I find the Feathers very similar to the Astra SPs and the Gillette 7 O'Clock Blacks. I like them, but not enough to spend twice as much on them when the Astras seem to work just as well for me.

I think Feathers are too expensive and not durable enough. Like gmsmallwood said, I can get equal or better performance from Astra SP or Voskhod, the latter being very forgiving.

I agree, two great shaves and done. They just don't hold an edge very long. The price to performance ratio just doesn't work out for me.

I am also discovering what other have been saying, and agree. First shave seems to be ultra lazer sharp, second shave seems to be the best in feel and close comfort, third shave is starting to get rough, after that scraping skin... Lol

I have also read that if one stays the course and gets through a few more shaves the blade mellows out some and give great performance. I don't know if I would want to go through that though.

What most everyone else wrote, good blade for 2 shaves then it just makes weepers on my face. Not worth the expense. For that reason after my trial pack I haven't bought any more.

Definitely sharp enough, but I didn't think they were very smooth. At the time I tested them I was using some fairly aggressive razors and they worked fine in them.

Funny though, in the Feather Popular razor, I could use the blade for at least a week with no ill effect, more if I wanted to stretch it. Maybe these work the best in the most mild of razors?
