Sold a few brushes and that broke my fever, so I kept my bay rums. Glad I did. So far I like... PAA (Regular and Artic), Layrite No. 9, St. John's, Dominica, and Grand Bay. The verdict is still out for me on Gilber Henry. Tried Captain's Choice Co9 a long time ago and liked the burn but not the scent so much, but I'll revisit it at some point, since it's been awhile and my bay rum love has grown.

EDIT: I didn't really answer the question. Right now my favorite bay rum is PAA Artic Bay Rum.

don't forget to try B&M, Mike's, Stirling and Krampert's Finest bay rums.  Tongue

Oh well, if I must... Big Grin

If you're a lover of Bay Rum, you must! Those are among the very best. And you should also try Chatillon Lux Blackberry Blossom Bay which isn't actually a bay rum but its in the family, like a distant cousin with the allure of bay in it.

I really like Ogallala Bay Rum original, with Limes & Peppercorns and with Sage & Cedar. I'm ok with the one with Sandalwood but cannot handle the one with vanilla. Its just to cloyingly overpowering for me and it lasts a tad longer than forever!

Some of my later additions to my Bay Rum catalogue include the Phoenix & Beau Imperial Rum which is very nice in the classic bay rum tradition. I've just ordered but not yet received two Van Yulay soaps - Bay Rum and Bay of Roses both of which I have high expectations. Bay and rose should be a great combo. I've not tried any Van Yulay soaps yet but I also have high expectations.

another scent I'm a fan of is bay laurel and citrus. I bought a bath soap from a shop in Colorado last year and it smelled awesome.

I love Bay Rum, don't love the clove, not even a little bit. Challenge accepted. My 2 favorite Bay Rum's with zero clove smell is Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations and Long Rifle. Both are standout soaps. I also really like Long Rifle's splashes

When I was little and until Dad came home from the war I had long hair that was naturally curly.

Mom used St. Johns Bay Rum (or some other brand that also came wrapped in palm fronds) when she brushed it out so the smell of St Johns Virgin Island Bay Rum has always been a happy comforting smell.

Once Dad came home after WWII the hair had to go and so for the next sixty years or so short hair became the standard and bay rum only returned as an aftershave when I started shaving with a hand-me-down Gillette.

Today my favorite is still St Johns with Pinaud Bay Rum and Ogallala being secondary choices.

This fragrance is all about exotic spices – Allspice, Capers, Cloves, Nutmeg and mix with Crushed Orange, Crisp Pine Needles and just a touch of Patchouli and Vanilla to add a deep base note for staying power.

Make your shave the best by using only the finest oils & butters to leave your skin softer than when we meet. This soap is designed with the glide you need every time. This is a Bay Rum in the sense of “Pardon me, would you mind terribly if I boarded your vessel and availed myself of your goods?”. Not, “Arrgh, I be taking ye ship and eating ye heart.” Refined and lovely scent. It was made with real spiced rum. This is a winner for sure.

I just received my order of Bay Rum and Bay of Roses and they both smell great - that is quite a presentation of Bay of Roses with the soap pink rose with green leaves perched on top of the soap, very nice. I am looking forward to lathering these beauties. Also thanks for the sample of Black Cavendish - thats got to be the pipe tobacco-ist soap I've ever smelled.

While thats not quite the smell I look for in a bay rum it just goes to show that there is something for everybody in bay rum.

Have you tried the Wickham's Club Cola soap - it smells like (surprise) cola! Big Grin If thats a scent you like then there's one to add to your list, its not rum but you can add it to rum with a twist of lime and its ok.
