What is Facebook? Ha! I kid. I rolled with a couple of Facebook groups for awhile and frankly didn’t enjoy the experience. My three biggest concerns were 1)foul language; couldn’t get through a thread without several F-bombs And homey don’t play well with that. 2) unchecked negativity, I noticed a huge tendency to troll or bag on a maker or a vendor. I’m guessing they thought it helpful but I found it brash and distasteful. And 3) there was no archive/search ability so info that I find useful on DFS was unusable there. That is my experience on Facebook.

They're not all bad. Here are a few with my best descriptions. I also used the movie ratings system to subgroup them a bit.

Rating "PG"
The Wet Shaving Society - nothing but shaving
Paul's Wet Heads - FB group of PaulHFilms
The Midwestern Wet Shavers - pretty focused wet shaving chat
Wet the Face - also pretty tame and focused
S.E.R.F. (Single Edge Razor Fans) - lots of SOTD and good.content
Karve Razor Appreciation Group
Shave Brush Collectors
The Barrister and Mann FB Group
Real Men Shave

Rating "PG13"
Shaving Soap & Good Stink - lots of SOTD and frag recommendations
Rich Man Shaving - mostly PG until recently had some old timers post some objectionable content but they have since departed the group

Rating "R"
Razor & Brush - some language and plenty of politics

Rating "NC17"
Lather and Blade - very loosely moderated

Buy/Sell/Trade
Shave Addicts Marketplace Unleashed
Wet Shaving Enablers Buy/Sell/Trade
Vintage Gillette Safety Razors B/S/T
The Shave Chapel Buy/Sell/Trade

Just curious - are you getting anything out of a FB group that you don't otherwise get here or in other online forums?

Mainly, different set of participants.  Some online forum users overlap with FB, Instagram and/or Reddit, but there is also a subset unique to each specific platform.   Facebook and Instagram also has more interactive content and engagement with "live" videos.

Artisans are also active on different platforms but not all.  For example,
  • Tallow & Steel mostly interacts on the merchant section of this site and Instagram.
  • Barrister and Mann tends to rely mostly on Reddit these days.
  • Zingari Man tends to mostly rely on Instagram.

I've had great experiences with both of those groups.

my biggest gripe with facebook groups (not any particular shaving one) is that trying to find stuff within them can be incredibly difficult, especially since it doesn't structure the data like forums do.
