UPDATE:

Just letting everyone know the Unscented 7.5 oz F Base is now in Stock on the website.

They’ll be more coming very soon in various aromas.  I’ll post them as their ready. It’s a holiday weekend so my website developer like many has family plans. She’s going to try and get some up soon including Nuage De Citron and Vetivert which are first on my list to get up. Some of the Post Shave products may take a little longer but they will be up soon, so if your looking to purchase a set you may want to wait a few days after the soap and Skin Food Splash go up as they are new products and not restocks.

Thank you!

Question:

I’m thinking of adding some non - alcohol skin splashes to the line. I’ve custom made sone throughout the last year or so and I’ve got what I feel is a good formula that still offers a lot of skin benefits and holds the Aroma well without any stickiness or a coated feeling.

What do you guys think of this idea? I know my out of this country customers would like a splash option.

Any input is welcome.

Thank you!

Hi, Frank. I'm in the UK and as there's now a European vendor, the benefit of alcohol-free splashes purely on shipping grounds, I suppose, doesn't apply. Even freight forwarders are available for buying from the USA if we desire.
There are many who simply prefer the alcohol-free option, irrespective of location. I'm sure there will be US citizens who fall in to this category. Personally, I prefer alcohol containing splashes.

Thank you for your input and I totally agree. My European Vendor has a forward shipper with a license to ship alcohol so for those that purchase their products from anticatura can get both the Alcohol based Skin Food Splash and the Non - Alcohol Skin Food Lotion. It’s the Euro customers that buy directly from me that this option will probably appeal to as I’ve gotten quite a few requests for a splash rather than a lotion as I think they think my lotion is like a typical balm which it’s not at all like. Also there are customers that live here in the US that have asked me about a alcohol free splash.

Frank, can you remind us what the pros and cons are of alcohol based splashes, putting aside the shipping issue?
I prefer alcohol based splashes. But as I sit here writing this, I don’t know that I can single out alcohol’s contribution to that preference. I perceive alcohol based splashes to be more invigorating, leave a cleaner “face feel” post application, and provide instructive feedback in areas I may have over shaved or had been a bit aggressive.

I recall you take a lot of care in selecting the base for your alcohol component, as well as managing the overall percentage. I have a hard time identifying any downside to your formulation with alcohol (other than the shipping issue) But of course that is just my individual subjective experience that I imagine varies from others.

You covered some of the benefits that alcohol brings when used in an alcohol based aftershave. One of the most important benefits that you missed is it helps prevent infection as it’s an antiseptic and astringent and that’s enhanced when mixes with Witch Hazel. it kills bacteria that can cause all kinds of havoc to the skin. The feedback you were talking about which does hopefully help you better your shaving skills can enhance irritation on sensitive skin so there is a fine line there and that’s why I add a lot of skin beneficial ingredients in my Skin Food Splashes.

Question:

Ok as I posted before I have an issue with my 4.5 oz jars and I'm waiting on my new batch and it may be awhile before they arrive so I'm babysitting what I have left in stock and they are all going towards the 2 upcoming Bay Rums. An when the new jars arrive I'll fill in some of the soaps that are or will be available in the 7.5 oz size for now.  So I have a batch of F Based Shave soap that's unscented going now and it's a decent sized batch so I had an idea but I wanted your opinion on what soaps I'll make as I'm going to divide this batch into 2 scents. An here's the tricky part, all of the scents are currently in the Tallow Creme base or the very old S Base with the exception of the Fresco which will definately be part of this batch and has always been a Shave soap. So if you had to pick 1 out of the list below that you'd like to see in an F Based Shave soap that's normally a Tallow Shave Creme or in the case of the Colonia which was the old S Base which would you pick? Remember whatever scent we pick is going to be in a very limited number and only be in the 7.5 oz size on my website only. I think this will also be a good experiment as far as getting these scents into a Shave Soap Base as they are all citrus scents and you know they will all be subject to higher temperatures than they would be in a Tallow Shave Creme but I've got some ideas on how I may get around this issue and avoid a much weaker scent than is in the shave creme.

So these are the picks so let me know what would be your top choice out of these three listed below.

1. Melange Di Agrume
2. Colonia
3. Bergamotto

As always your input and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Frank
