Hi Ali,

I think Frank Dragonsbeard  and many others should answer it who know it. I have been waiting for it based on the old ingredient list from Gareth TheShaveSupply :

Aloe Vera Juice, Stearic Acid, Grass Fed Beef Tallow, Duck Fat, Organic Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Kokum Butter, Mango Butter, Organic Glycerin, Potassium Stearate, Sheep Milk, Coconut Milk, Sodium Hydroxide, Grass Fed Bison Tallow, Argan Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Essential Oils of Italian Bergamot, Yellow Mandarin, Green Mandarin, Italian Blood Orange, Haitian Vetiver, Clary Sage, Organic Ginger, Double Distilled Haitian Vetiver, Organic Petitgrain, Violet Leaf Absolute, Australian Sandalwood Oil, EOS Complex, Allantoin, Oat Amino Acids, Silk Amino Acids, Soy/Rice Peptides, Sorbitol, Organic Vitamin E Oil, Sodium Lactate, Xanthan Gum, Lanolin, Capritolin (Natural Preservative) Calendula Extract, Aloe Vera Extract, Comfrey Extract, Milk Thistle Extract, Chamomile Extract.

Vetyvert amazing. Would place it square between Creed Original (sans House of Creed undertones) and Guerlain which is as good as it gets .

UPDATE:

Had some F Base made and was going to do another batch of Sandalo Artistico but saw I was a little short on the East Indian Sandalwood so ordered sone more and thought to myself we have the new labels that came in why not make a batch of the Unscented as we’ve been out of it for a while. As some may know the name has been changed to simply “ Unscented “ as some have pointed out the former name “ Clean “ may have been a little misleading as some people thought it was like a clean linen scent just looking at the name. It’s still in the Pure Collection and as we move forward anything that’s unscented will be labeled that way and found in the Pure Collection.

Of course this is in the new F Base and has the matching Skin Food Splash. We also do have the Skin Food Lotion but are still using the old label until we run out which is white.

Moving forward I think that these Unscented products will be used more not only by people that have sensitivities to aromas but one of the foundations for the upcoming “ Mixology Collection “ where people use their own imagination to create and mix scents.

I know a few people have been asking about an Unscented Shave Soap so in my humble opinion a good decision to side track for a coupe of hours to make this.

Oh and because I have a few more Shave Soaps to make and I’m low in stock and waiting for more 4.5 oz jars. The Unscented will only be available in the 7.5 oz size. When the jars come in “ could be a month or so as lead time are running 6 to 8 weeks  I’ll have the 4.5 oz size available also.

Sorry for the long read but I wanted to get my thoughts out there.

Regards

Frank

Frank this looks great, I bet it has an unremarkable scent.

Unfortunately some of my unscented soaps smell like animal fat, I don’t know how to explain it but it’s not unscented.

This I am 100% into for when I go wine tasting.

The way I've always looked at it is, there's unscented and then there's scentless.  To me unscented only means no extra aroma elements have been added, but can and often still has a scent.  Scentless means just that and I'm not sure I've ever come across a scentless soap.

Very good point and I’ll add to it, almost anything we put our nose to has a scent of some sort. Wood, Concrete, Fabric, food, Ocean, plastic Steel etc.etc.etc.

The cosmetics industry distinguishes between unscented and fragrance free. I think the latter is the one that 97.3% of dermatologists recommend.

You are 100% correct, and I gave that some thought but I honestly think of drug store facial cleaners by Neutrogena and I just couldn’t bring myself to use Fragrance- Free. Lol

I've neither been traditional shaving as long as Frank, nor ever made soap. However, my thoughts are:

If a company is making an unscented soap, with whatever scent additives to counter the natural smell, I'm guessing they probably use only the lightest amounts and most skin friendly oils? It makes sense as both unscented and no added scent would appeal (market towards) to folks with skin issues.

Maybe not everyone can get away with unscented, but my guess would be 90% or more? Again, no science and no first person knowledge here.

On the Unscented topic I just took time to smell the Shave soap and there’s no scent other than a natural soap scent. No animal scent and no butters and oils scent either. Like I mentioned before almost anything on the planet has a scent to a good nose and I’d say this smells like a clean natural Unscented soap. So it is free of any aromatics additives so could it be called scentless? No but it’s definitely Unscented.

Again this is only available in the 7.5 oz size and on the ETHOS website.

Thank you all for the input!

Frank
