Hi Matt

To start nice photos!

So as far as scent strength I may have been able to increase the percentage a little bit without it having an effect on the performance ( to much oil ) but only by a little bit which I’ll do on the next batch. Here’s the problem with the Flower note. Unless I use a Aroma Chemical that is a Violet Flower accord using the real thing would be price prohibitive. I’m including a photo of one of only 2 suppliers that I’m aware of that carry real Violet Flower extract.  The 10 ml in a 18 lbs batch wouldn’t do a thing to change the Aroma that is the current one. It would take at least 2 oz so if you do the math you’ll see that would really effect the selling price a lot. I added flowers and leaves to my homemade infusion. Maybe next batch next year I can only use the flowers and see if I can capture the scent or if there’s such a thing as dried Violet flower I could start an infusion in the fall and let it go all winter.. I’d have to search to see if their available. Everyone wanted a natural starlight Violet so I did my best to give them that and not use any synthetics and also keep the price somewhat reasonable.

I can send you a vial of the Aroma Blend for more strength if you’d like my friend.

So here’s the photo of the price for just 10 ml or 1/3rd of an oz of the Violet Flower Extract so that’s about $140 US dollars for the 10ml so for one oz that’s $420! An I’d need at least 2 oz. Keeping things 100% natural sometimes doesn’t come inexpensively.

Here is the price for 15 ml of an Aroma Chemical from a professional Aroma supplier in the US.

Violet - Key Accord

Fragrance Family: Floral

Odor Description: Violet, Sweet, Floral, Powdery
This Accord was developed in-house, and is meant to capture the floral sweetness of freshly picket Violet florets. We tried to blend the familiar aroma of the freshly bloomed flower, in conjunction with the sweet powdery nuances found in candied violets.

15ml

$4.50 (USD)

I can easily add this accord to the Aroma Blend if you guys want me to on he next batch and I’ll order some and test it out in the Splash and I can send out some samples for feedback.

My job is to please my customers and keep up my standards.  In this case I’d make it exactly like I did this time only add a little more of the natural Aroma blend which would also include the right amount of the Violet Key Accord. I just wouldn’t want it to smell real synthetic as I’m getting less and less tolerant of strong synthetic scents. I much prefer what nature gives us naturally.  Maybe I’m getting to old and set in my ways!  Big Grin

Hey everyone enjoy your Sunday!

Thank you so much for sharing the information.  Hopefully I won’t need a knee replacement. Mines healing nicely just taking it easy the pain is gone but it’s still a little tender and can still tell that if I were to try and do everything I normally do to soon that it May flare up again.

I’m interested in what the Orthopedic doctor has to say.

Best regards

Frank

Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that you need  replacement now, or even that you will later. My point in a nutshell was that I think most of the supposed drawbacks to surgery, if it is needed, are primarily the drawbacks of injuring it to begin with.

If you don’t need surgery though, so much the better! Regardless, I hope you are feeling better soon, my friend!

Frank, don't worry about what any one person wants, including me obviously.
Maybe figure out how to do a poll of likely customers and see what that says.
There are a LOT of GIT dupes, and its distinguishing note is the green violet leaf note... that's why, instead, I like the idea of a strong natural violet flower petal/nectar note. Not sure how much that would cost on a per soap basis to do.
(Definitely don't want a candied violet scent, I mentioned that like 6 months ago when we first started talking about this. Not sure what anyone else thinks though.)

Nero Matt

A poll is a good idea for some future projects so thanks for the tip.

Yeah I’m not into that whole flowery, powdery, Candy type Violet.

I’d like a little more Flower as I did add a little bit of it in but it was such a small amount it got lost.

I just did he math and if I added more of the natural Violet Flower C02 it would add around $18 to the existing price of $60 of each jar., and that’s saying that 2 oz is enough in the blend. I can and will do a test on a much smaller scale and see how the blend comes out. Should be interesting.

Once again thanks for the poll idea. That could be very helpful and valuable for future projects.

Very soon my friend. Just waiting on the labels. For all these new releases. They should arrive in about 6 to 8 days at the most. Then things will move quickly.

You know what i was thinking that may work but be a much less expensive Aroma Ingredient is I can make a Violet Enfleurage myself next season as long as I grow enough Violet plants as you need a lot of flowers to use during the rendering process. I'm actually doing that with some plants right now for a Fall/ Winter Aroma Blend. Making an Enfleurage is very time consuming and it's a ancient practice and essentially the beginning of perfumery, The process is still used in such places such as India where a lot of flowers grow and they mostly make Attar's for the niche perfume industry which are usually very very expensive. As I displayed the Violet CO2 Extract from a Enfleurage is stupid expensive to buy. It's just a few dollars shy per oz of what a good Mysore Sandalwood costs these days.

See by you guys giving me feedback you get my creative juices going and I start to think of ways to get you what you want!

So thank you for the interest and input.

UPDATE:

I'd like to announce the addition of two well respected vendors that are joining the ETHOS family. So we welcome both Bullgoose Shaving and
Murphy and McNeil.  I've known Phil for years and it was good hearing from him when he reached out to me. Had a long interesting discussion with Bill at M&M especially about the hobby of wet shaving.   So they join The Shave Supply, The Razor Company.  Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC is back onboard as well as Top of the Chain in Canada and our first European vendor Anticatura in Slovenia.

Just so you know all the vendors will have most all of the new releases coming out as well as the standards with the exception of the 7.5 oz size jars. Also some releases are also exclusive to the ETHOS website for example, in a release where some of the proceeds go to a charity like we did with ShaveMD on the initial release ( This time it will go out to the vendors ) Also when some of the proceeds go to a foundation like the King of the North did and the soon to be the released Beauté Sauvage which will go to the World Wildlife Foundation. Also this will also occur with scents that I'm doing small experimental batches of like the soon to be released Honeysuckle for example.  In those cases if there is enough demand for the scent then another bigger batch will be made and they will go out to all my vendors.

I just wanted to bring you up to date on what's going on at ETHOS as far as distribution.

I'll be posting up more detail on the vendors over in the Merchant section when I get some time.

Best regards
