#3 for me, and I’d like to buy the alcohol-free Bergamot splash.

I probably wouldn’t buy the spray though.

While we are on the subject of Ethos bottles...
I have received 2 EDP round bottles (different scents) which do not spray at all.  I transferred their contents into other empty spray bottles I saved.  I am curious if anyone else has had this issue with the round EDP bottles?  I tried shortening the pickup, but that did not work.  IMO, the problem is a defective push mechanism (pump) at the top.  All other Ethos spray bottles have worked fine, and I have many.

I had a defective pump and Frank sent me another which solved the issue. Reach out to him.

Emperor of Shaving
Had my first shave with Bay Rum followed by Tortola aftershave.  Outstanding on every level. I won't go on about the premium quality of the products.  We already know this and have come to expect it with Frank's products. These were no exception; simply the best! I hope to see more Tortola products. The fragrance was intoxicating. I wanted to drink it!

I second this! I love the Bay Rum as well as the Tortola, and I hope there is a Tortola Soap to go with the Splash someday.

Hello Captainjonny

I’m sorry that the Sprayers are not working for you and as Dave in KY  said just message me by the email address on the website and I’ll get you out replacements.  Those sprayers have been known to do that now and then.  An another reason that can happen is if the Aroma blend is to high a percentage. This makes the mixture to thick for the sprayer and it either won’t spray or it will come out in like a stream instead of a fine mist.  I get stayers from two different suppliers and they both have this issue. If your familiar with Eau de Extrait or sometimes called Extrait de Parfum.  The Extraits contain a higher concentration of the Aroma ingredients than a Edu de Parfum or EDP. A lot of them don’t come in a bottle with a sprayer because of that reason. Many of the new ones come in a Roller bottle or simply have a cap on them with no reducer like a splash would have. There are some exceptions depending on the company as some are big enough companies to have the sprayer makers make them custom sprayers with orifice that will sprayer a thicker concentration of the Aroma oils.

I’ve wanted to switch to bottles for my EDP’s with sprayers that are crimped ( like the colognes you’d get from a designer) it requires a crimping apparatus but the quality of the sprayers is better than the screw on type I use now. The only disadvantage is you can’t just unscrew them to add more or take some out. The crimping machines can be anywhere from handhelds starting at $700 and up to full machines that start in the thousands. So a good sized investment.

I’ve seen a couple of companies using Serum pumps as they either add a thickener to the blend or just put the Aroma Blend straight up with no Alcohol.

Sorry for the long explanation but it is an issue because if you have an Aroma blend be they synthetic aroma chemicals or natural Aroma Blends using Essential oils, Absolutes etc.
an the Aroma is weak then you sometimes have to add more which causes the thicker EDP and the issues with the sprayer not being able to push it through the orifice. Stronger scents usually require a lower percentage of the Aroma therefore not creating as much of a problem spraying.

I try to do my best to balance things out but sometimes the problem shows up later on. That’s why I tell people to send in for a replacement or the other alternative is I send them a little bottle of Perfumers Alcohol to dilute the blend once the level of the bottle goes down.

A little complicated right. lol

I’m here for ya if you need a couple of replacements.

Frank....Thanks for the explanation, it is much appreciated. The EDP scents were Sucess and Greenfresh, that had pump issues. I have 9 of the square skin splash bottles and none of them have had any issues, including the Bay Rum splash, which looks like it has a solid cinnamon or clove powder in the mixture. If I have any issues in the future, I will contact you.
I am not in favor of the crimped bottles, and prefer the screw tops. With nearly all of my aftershaves, splashes and EDP/T and colognes...I transfer them to 12ml spray bottles, which I keep in my pocket for refreshing the scent after 5 or more hours out on the go. On summer days, the splashes and aftershave sprays are great for an aromatic cool down (a "scentsary" experience) which I have done for most of my life. I was into aromatherapy decades before it was recognized as therapeutic.

If anyone's sprayer doesn't work the way it is supposed to work just remove it from the bottle and run it for a minute under warm water. That shall dissolve anything clogging the orifice.

Captainjonny

First off, thank you for your support!

Ok Succes should not be clogging up the sprayer, I have a Greenfresh could do it as it’s a thicker material.

So send me a email and I’ll get you out 2 new sprayers.

Also one thing you can try if you already know is whenever a sprayer doesn’t work is turn the bottle completely upside down and pump it and many times it will take care of the problem. We had that problem many times with hairspray because of the sticky polymers in them.

Also as the member below mentioned you can soak or run hot or warm water on a sprayer and it will unclog. If those two don’t work then a new sprayer is needed.

Hey thanks guys for the encouraging comments. As I’ve stated before I was a little nervous making a Bay Rum for the first time as I know there are a lot of real Bay Rum lovers on here so these types of posts gives me confidence in knowing they both turned out good enough to meet up to Bay Rum lovers.

Tortola is currently one of my personal favorites and honestly I find myself using it a lot. So I’m absolutely going to try and expand the Tortola into other products moving forward. So definitely on my to do list.

Thank you gentlemen for your support!

My order of Tortola just arrived and I think it's a great compliment to the Ethos Bay Rum soap and splash I already have. A fun way to mix it up! Tortola has more of a Caribbean island feel but it still in the same family. I love them both, but Tortola is special.

Frank I think you nailed both of these scents!! You're right, there's a ton of bay rum's out out there, but you landed on the top tier with yours my man.
