My only issue with EF is it's slightly sharp so it tingles my noise a little.
MDC Fougere is another favorite.

Another big MdC Fougere fan here.

My objective when I first started messing with a Fougere was to have a matching or close to the MDC Fougere shave soap which is still my absolute favorite Fougere shave soap and like I mentioned it was frustrating at the time cause I tried more than my fair share of Fougeres back then and none of them did it for me. So that’s when I started playing with a blend. My first attempt was a little Lavender heavy so I added More Bergamot and that helped quite a bit and that’s where I left off but there’s more work to be done on it . I stopped working on it as I had so many irons in the fire on other projects but just recently one of my good customers asked me how the Fougere was coming along and because of the message it reminded me that I hadn’t used my MDC Fougere in a long time so I pulled it out and like an old girlfriend that you missed I was like hello there! Nothings changed and for me it’s still my favorite Fougere Shave soap and it’s still my target for a matching or at least a close complementary post shave product that works with it. Heck I was almost tempted to get in touch with them as many of you know I’ve had communication with them in the past as they helped me get my 7.5 oz jars which are from the same company that they get there jars from. I would ask them wound you be interested in a post shave Splash, Lotion, Balm or Serum . I’ll make it and just send me the fragrance. lol I’m sure if they wanted a post shave product they could have hired a good cosmetic chemist to whip them up a formula for whatever post shave product they’d like.

Ok back to reality.. my blend for one thing needs a slight powdery note which is present in the MDC Fougere. It’s not very strong but it’s definitely present so my next attempt I’ll try adding a little Orris Butter and go from there but I want to get it out by late Spring/early summer. Once out and if accepted by the community then it will become a standard always available part of the ETHOS family like the Lavender Supreme, Succes, Sandalo Artistico and soon to be added Rosa.

I like what I’m hearing from you guys as it seems like we are all somewhat on the same page.

UPDATE:

There a few of you that asked for a real authentic Violet Shave soap.  So I've got all my Aroma ingredients with the exception of one which I had to sample first to make sure and it's awesome so I ordered a larger amount and it's on it's way. This is a simple blend of a few different Violet Aroma ingredients and just to be clear there are no synthetic aroma ingredients in this blend as you can see from the ingredients list. The Organic Violet Absolute is what I would call expensive and the only ingredient that will help keep the price down to a somewhat reasonable price is the Organic Violet Leaf Absolute 10% but it's not very strong scented so we will see how that goes when I make my sample. Just so you guys know and maybe that's why there has not been a natural Violet Shave soap made up to this point is the Organic Violet Absolute price is almost identical to Tonka Bean Absolute but the Organic Violet Flower Extract is stupid expensive and just a touch below an entry level Mysore Sandalwood oil at $424 an oz! It is very strong so I'm hoping I'm not going to have to use too much of it. I'm also going to try infusing some Violet Flowers I just purchased and see if I can get some added scent out of the infusion in an attempt to keep the price down. If my ideas of how to keep the price down we are still looking at Tonka Bean Shave soap price on this Violet Shave soap. This Shave Soap being Violet does not offer as many aroma options as the upcoming Rosa where I can get more creative in an effort to keep prices down to a somewhat reasonable price.  A Tallow Shave Creme would probably be a bit less expensive and I can easily test that as I have unscented base. So if you guys would rather have the Tallow Shave Creme it might save a few bucks.  As I've stated many times I price my products according to what's in them.

F-Base and Id be ok with an increased price to keep the quality as high as possible.  Im sure others would be as well, we all love Vanilla safi after all.

I thought the only thing you could really get with violet was leaf extract.  I didnt think flower extract was possible with violet.

Hi Dan

You’d be correct on the Violet Leaf and I was surprised but not shocked to fine the Vilolet Flower Extract from a Supplier out of the US who has Aroma ingredients that no one else has. He has some of the most precious, rarest Aroma ingredients I’ve ever seen. Many Vintage Aroma ingredients like several vintage Ouds and Mysore Sandalwood.!In fact he just announced that he was getting a very limited supply of 1912 Mysore Sandalwood oil. That’s over 100 yrs old and I can’t even imagine how much that will cost. I’ll order maybe 1 or 2 grams just to smell it and add it to my personal Vintage Mysore’s collection.

So getting back to the Violet Flower extract I will say it smells amazing and if cost wasn’t an issue I’d use it exclusively for this project but that’s just not financially possible as I’m sure we’d all have Shave Soap sticker shock. With that said I’ll probably use it when I come out with my new Artisanal line of Eau de Extrait’s and Eau de Elixirs which both have higher concentrations of Aroma ingredients than a EDP but that’s for another post when the packaging design is completed and I’m ready to launch the line.

Good question BTW
