DanLaw this person actually told me most days he shaves twice a day.. Early morning and then at night before he sees his fiancé. Says he has an extremely course beard. He’s so obsessed with documenting each and every shave he even weights the shave brush dry and then when water is added to it and then adds the weight of the water he’s using. Believe me what I posted is the simple version. He even does this with post shave serums and aftershaves. I guess he works in concrete and he said it’s easy for him as documenting that is a part of his job. I’ve trying to get him to join DFS as he can explain in much more detail and maybe share the intricate way he does this. I just asked him about the price per shave and got a long detailed explanation which I think I forgot half of what he told me already. Lol Btw he lives in Eastern Europe.

Great shaves!

Had a QB in university with a beard growth so thick and heavy, having started practice clean shaven, would have a dark 5 O'Clock shadow by end of practice sprints - swear could almost watch his beard grow.

Great review of Ethos by the one and only Sharpologist..

Conclusion
It’s getting harder and harder to make selections for Sharpologist’s annual Best Shave Soap list–there are so many really great artisans out there. Ethos Grooming Essentials is new to me but they are absolutely top-tier in scent and performance.

Frank -

Do you anticipate that the Blood Orange cream will be an evergreen (or at least in a seasonal rotation)?

Hello sir

At this point since it going to be a new release I’ll have to wait and see how the response is to it and if it really good then yes it will be either a standard almost always in stock as you mentioned at least seasonal.  In my short amount of time in the business I’ve found the standards show up like for example my Lavender Supreme. It’s been a steady seller since day one. Same can be said for Succes.

Thanks for the good question.

I found out about this from you and one other customer who saw it and I was happy that Mark liked the two products and had good things to say. On thing that’s funny is that in my phone conversation with him he mentioned that his nose wasn’t the best and I guess that’s the truth as he describes the Melange D Agrume as a Orange scent when it’s all different varieties of Grapefruit with absolutely no Orange EO of any kind in it. In fact I’ll have to call him on that one and some folks have slight reactions to natural citrus essential oils and Grapefruit is higher on the index of citruses than let’s say Lemon is. He asked me what was a safe pick and I mentioned the Lavender Supreme so I’m glad he chose that one.

I’ll have to reach out and thank him. A nice guy to talk to.

Thanks Ken for the heads up!

So After talking to Nero  aka Matt on the phone for the 2nd time I made up my mind I’d share our custom project. Matt sent me 2 different kinds of tree sap from some trees that grow on his land. I’m very excited about infusing these and making him a custom F Base Shave Soap and Skin Food Splash. I have to say smelling the real deal as opposed to anything else is not comparable. I keep opening the bags to take a sniff often. You can smell the freshness and the outdoors and green trees etc. It fits some of the great photos he’s posted up of his land. Can’t wait till spring so I can get more of it. I love doing infusions and this one is special to me. So thanks Matt for thinking of me for this project. Also maybe you can explain the two different types of Saps and the trees they came from.

Hey Frank, very nice talking with you again last night and really looking forward to this project.

Both of those saps come from the same species found on my property: the pinion pine.

In fact, 100% of the dark sap and probably 75% of the clear sap comes from the same one individual tree.

I haven't even told you this yet, Frank... but when my grandmother passed away last May, she had never made out to my home... so I brought a piece of my home to her. From that very same individual tree with the two saps mentioned above, I clipped a branch from it and put it in her casket to be with her forever. (I also did a clipping from a juniper on my property.)

The scent of the pinion pine is heavenly. And knowing Frank does custom scented soaps, I reached out to see if he would make one with its sap. As you can see, we are on our way, and I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I am really not sure why one tree would have two very different saps. The clear sap smells more fresh and bright/springy, whereas the dark one is more woody and dry.

We have even discussed the possibility of doing other custom projects after the snow melts and my body heals so I can access the raw materials. I really want to do a soap scented with Douglas fir needles and/or sap, and possibly juniper as well.

Cheers Frank and thanks for making this happen!

Good morning Matt

Thanks for sharing the story of your Grandmother. That is a very thoughtful thing to do and I’m honored that I have the Sap from that same tree.
To honor your Grandma a bit more if I have enough left over I’ll make you a candle you can burn from the sap when you feel like it.

I love Douglas Fir and Juniper so can’t wait to put my nose on those two!

An a speedy recovery my friend!
