Razor: Timeless Ti .68
Blade: Dorco Titan
Brush: Oumo Manchurian Fan 28mm
Soap: ETHOS Grooming Essentials Pure Clean
After: ETHOS Grooming Essentials Pure Clean

Nice and efficient shave as usual.

Timeless razor is awesome. Especially Ti.68 is very comfortable to use everyday.

I need some advice from anyone who uses badger brushes with ETHOS.

I scoop the almond size out to my bowl and start to lather. I usually spread the soap on the bottom of the bowl and add three ir four drops of water before lathering. When using a synthetic brush, I can get creamy lather very easily. All I need to do is add water when it is too thirsty.

But when using badger one, I cant get lather as much as I want. The lather seems to be less like a third as much as I usually get. So I always scoop twice as much as I do when using badger and then I can get great lather.

Is there anyone who scoop almond size and lather with the badger brush? please give me some advice

Less than almond size dollop of ETHOS is all needed to produce overly abundant lather using 26-28mm US artisan badger brushes. Many times have sufficient amount of lather remaining to shave legs too (cyclist and runner)

Try simply soaking your brush for say 2 minutes then wrapping forefinger and thumb GENTLY squeezing excess water.  Work up the lather without adding water until no soap remains clinging to bowl - it will resemble a thick paste on the knot (about 150 swirls). SLOWLY add water by barely dipping tips in a water pool then swirling in the lathering bowl (say every 100 swirls). Repeat until nonbubbled lather explodes, about 5 minutes.

Finally, my perspective is much of the lather porn photographed is way too dry. Properly, lather should be slightly wet and barely runny. Overly dry lather may be fine if one has great skin - why so many people buy soap based on scent disparaging postshave- but if one has bad skin or too aggressive blade/razor, it makes a huge delta. REM it termed wet shaving.

Also something to consider Brian. Your Badger brush may have cosmetic weight build up on it. I’ve had it happen with Badger brushes before. If you’ve been using shave soaps with butters abs oils etc it will happen. It’s just a matter of time when it happens. That’s why I made the Restore Brush Cleaner.

Also if it’s a brand new brush, many come with a protective film of oil on then and that will kill a lather.

Dan gave you good advice as well on how to build a good lather.

It was huge help to today's shave

For the first pass, I succeeded by following your advice but at the second pass, I think I dipped tips more than you told me to so more water touched the brush. So much lather didn't come out. I should take more time to swirl with less dipping tips than I did.

So thank you for the tip DanLaw It actually worked when I properly did at the first pass Smile

I just need to adapt to the badger fibre and practice more Smile

But loading from the jar was excellent lol
Jar loading is very easy!

Razor: Timeless SS.95
Blade: Dorco Titan
Brush: Oumo Manchurian SHD Fan 28mm
Soap: ETHOS Grooming Essentials Pure Clean
After-shave: ETHOS Grooming Essentials Pure Clean

I succeeded in making enough lather for the first pass with the badger brush.

But failed for the second pass because I dipped the tip into water often and swirled and repeated the process, which wasnt necessary because I already had enough lather from the first try.

At the second pass, lather did come out enough and seemed to disappear soon. wasnt even dry.

So what I did was loading directly from the jar and face lathering lol. Much easier lol but I want to lather in the bowl with the badger brush because the badger is the only brush out of my collection that I cant get lather successfully

IMO I think I need more practice and I will get sufficient creamy lather.

The advice from DanLaw was effective so I am going to keep following his way Smile

He did it again. I can’t explain why he does or how but, I’m extremely grateful for Frank’s Dragonsbeard tremendous generosity and his over abundance in character in just being a decent human being and a hell of a guy. I’m truly blessed to call him my friend and shave brother from another Mother. I just saw the package late in the evening yesterday as my sister-in-law told me there were a few things that she got in the mail the day before and had left them for me in the dining room. I saw the box and quickly opened it to be greeted by this wonderful and rich aroma before even seeing the product. I had an idea of what it was from those initial whiffs and I assumed it was the Vanilla Safi. Bingo! It was the Shave soap and the Remede Revitilizing Serum. I will let you know from the start as I have told Frank before, I am not a big fan of vanilla scented shave products because of the cloying sweetness and synthetic type aura that I get most of the time. Gentlemen, this is not one of those scented vanillas that hurts the olfactory senses. This is something else all together on another plane. It’s rich, has depth and is not overly sweet done in a semi masculine way. This coming from just the soap! I haven’t even mentioned the Serum which is even richer and shall I say, almost decadent in scent. This is as pure of a vanilla that I’ve ever sampled and not just your run of the mill vanilla. I can’t remember the vanilla bean that Frank used for this creation but, I do know that it is one of the most sought after vanilla bean in existence. The quality and gourmand like level of this product is indescribable. The care that Frank took to make this product plus substantial cost is noticed at first sniff. I can tell he poured his heart & soul into this one. To put it bluntly, in the shave realm the rest of the vanilla based offerings aren’t a pimple on this products ass, period. It is simply gorgeous. Shave to follow shortly as I know the performance is a given.

I have been in a sort of funk concerning the shaving hobby as I have been dealing with a personal health issue as of late which many do not know except for a very select few here in this forum. No, it is not me though, I surely wish it were. It’s the love of my life as she fights with grace and a conviction that is truly inspiring. Dignity and humility under fire. She’s my Hero and my anchor. Tough times we live in made worse by a disease that ravages the human anatomy with extreme and unadulterated prejudice. I wish this on no human being nor anyone should witness such a devastating and gut wrenching battle. It shakes one to the core and at times tests your belief in whatever faith a man might have, whether in truckloads or a spec of sand. You question the very basic foundation of the meaning of life itself and to what purpose.

This is one of the places where I find, just for the tiniest of moments a reprieve from the daily fight. I enjoy the banter, dialogue and the overall comradery that this shave forum offers and delivers if only for a few minutes. I don’t ask for me and I only ask for my Wife but, I ask you gents whether you know me or not, like or dislike my person, if you have a brief moment in your time to just mention her in a prayer. I would be most grateful and appreciative of your effort.

I apologize for taking this thread and posting something out of nature for this threads intended purpose. My intentions are not to play on one’s feelings or emotions. Just asking for a little help in faith, hope & compassion.

Thank you, Gents. And thank you Frank….

Hello my shaving brother!

I can’t even talk about shaving at this time. I know you have kept this pain you are carrying to yourself for a long time, never bringing the topic of your wife’s long battle with the terrible disease! I know she is your life and your heart and I know how hard this has been on you my friend and it breaks my heart. I want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wonderful wife.

You’ve always given this form lots of yourself, your time and your honest unbiased opinions on everything shaving for many years and I’m sure the members on here who see this post will have your back with their thoughts and prayers!

You know you have mine! ??
