Frank was kind enough to send me some Colonia in his brand new F base to test. This F base can be lathered right out of the jar. No need to scoop and put into a bowl first. All I can say is WOW! Very easy to load and lather. Performance was outstanding on all dimensions. In my opinion, it’s his best base to date. In addition, he let me know he’s even improved on this formulation for the final release. You guys are in for a treat…

Frank, does it smell like burning cannabis or growing cannabis? The smells are wildly different. The stuff is legal up here and although I don’t use it, I did agree to water a friend’s plants while he was on vacation last year. Woof! What a pungent aroma. I couldn’t imagine being in and around a major growing operation. What do you add to make the scent of your soap shave ready?
Oops missed that. Nothing added. Ok then.

Good question.  I didn’t list the ingredients but the main aroma ingredient is called Mother’s Liquor and it’s a full spectrum CBD distillate from the cannabis plant. We do that at the CBD facility I work at. I’m very fortunate that I do work there as it is the most prized and the most expensive full spectrum distillate and it smells like no other as it has a sweet herbaceous scent to it that’s got a honey note to it. The Woodstock thing was just a joke. There are a couple of synthetic fragrance oils that use the word Cannabis in them but the they smell nothing like the real thing. I also add Lifer Terpenes in which adds a cannabis note to the shave soap that a lot of people would be familiar with.  I have the serum and the feedback I’ve gotten from people that have the serum they wanted a natural scent shave soap to match before I start putting blends into it. I find the herbaceous note makes an excellent base for many middle and top notes using essential oils. In fact I’m going to add a couple of Aroma Blends to the list that would be a natural if a couple of drops were added to a shave bowl and mixed with the cannabis scent.

I lathered some up last night and I got mounds of lather that was extremely creamy. I like the natural aroma.

Thank you my friend for the encouraging words and yes I custom made that one for you and the final tweaking was done after that so I think you’ll see even a better base than the one you have and I have to bring the scent strength up a bit as I notice this base needs a higher percentage than the M Base does.

I tested the tweaked base last night with the Asclepius shave soap and it was very, very creamy and extremely slick. So when I make the Colonia in the F Base I’ll have you do a side by side and I think you’ll notice the tweaks I made to the final formula.

UPDATE:

The Succes Shave soap in the M Base is up on the website in all 3 sizes. 7.5, 4 oz and the Travel size.

Note this is the original formula that’s been curing now for almost 6 weeks. The scent smells really good on this batch.

The F Base Succes is also made but waiting on the side labels so I’ll post when it’s going live on the website and also on its way to my vendors.

Got some other updates I’ll post tomorrow

Thanks guys!

Which of the bases is the most firm for tub lathering?
Do the M and F denote mushy and firm?

LMAO!

No, no my friend!

Mushy is not what M stands for its for Modernly Firm.  The new M Base is similar to some other softer soaps out there and you can Load out of the jar you just have to have a light touch and with the M Base those that are familiar with it you don’t need more than a half an almond size for enough lather for a 3 pass shave. Honestly I have no issue loading from the jar with the old M Base. I just turn the jar upside down, use a light touch, swirl my brush and paint it on my face and begin to add water. It’s easy.

The F base is Firm and I just got a few popular soaps as I like trying new things and supporting other soap makers of which a few are friends
( no names mentioned) and it’s firmer than any of the ones I got but not as firm as MDC or SV as far as comparisons.

How do I know (for comparison) if the VS, D, GF, or L soaps that I already have on my shelf are M or F?
I’m certain that the Dbeard is mushy.
The VSafi, GreenF and Lav are slightly less mushy.
Will I be able to tell when I’m purchasing any additional soap(s) online which base is available??
Will we know M or F if we’re buying from a stockist?
And do the stockists plan on both M or F base on their shelf?

Don’t forget…you fondle this stuff everyday, we (at least me) don’t pay that much attention.
It’s gotta be simple for dim-witted old codgers like me.
Maybe SnapFace users will understand…
OH and…Where’s my damned GreenFresh bath soap?

Ok first things first. Pm your address please. I have your soap on the shipping table ready to go.

I just made a new batch of the Greenfresh Bath soap and a batch of the Shampoo/body wash so just waiting on the labels for both.

Ok so when someone is purchasing let’s say Succes Shave soap. On my website there will be two ways to pick which base the person wants. There’s also a general explanation on the 3 bases ( 2 now as Vegan Creme coming soon ) so when you hit the M Base or the F Base in the drop down menu all the soaps with that base show on the screen. The soaps are also marked with either a F or a M on the side label. I’m trying my best to make things easy for my customers.

It’s funny you mention the Dragonsbeard V2 as I think that’s the softest soap I’ve ever made. When the V 3 comes out it will be in the F base.

Best regards!
