Nah, Pete has been more vocal about this bar soap than any other product I've seen since I've jumped back in here. I say send him the extra bar so he can keep raving about it. It's cheap advertising Frank (and good Karma too).

Paul, you've swayed me. Right is right ! Frank, Pete deserves the goods  Happy2

Haha I was going to send it to him anyways. Good person and good customer.

I might have to try and squeeze a batch in cause I’m right there with Pete and a bunch of others. Greenfresh is starting to get a big following not only in the wet shaving community but I’ve made samples of the Shampoo/body wash and left them at salons and spas that are customers of mine and their like ok please make this like tomorrow! We want it.. So on a hot day I use the Shampoo/body wash, bath soap for my face, then shave with the Greenfresh Shave soap & Splash Food Splash. Follow with the Repleish Hyaluronic acid serum in the Greenfresh and then last but not least a few sprays of the EDP and I feel like a cool cucumber and I get people asking me what I got on so yeah I’m with Pete! Time to get to batching! Lol

Uh Well finished a custom order for member DanLaw and I wanted to share with you how a Product can be customized.

So Dan likes the 4oz frosted round bottle which is normally only used for Lissage hair and beard smoothing cream.  That means it’s double the size of the normal Skin food splash. Just so you guys know there’s will be a new 3.4 oz size that can be picked in the Custom Collection under Personal Blend Skin Food Splash. The aroma is Melange Di Agrume . So how it’s been personalized for Dan is the Skin Food Splash has a full 10% of the EOS Complex up from the normal 5% and then some of the Replenish Hyaluronic acid serum is added. An Dan likes a fine mist sprayer on his aftershaves rather than splashing it on.

Maybe Dan can explain how this personalized Skin Food Splash works for him. I’m more of a splash guy when it comes to aftershaves but I say to each his own.

Enjoy it Dan it’s on its way.

Thank you!

Well now, can state flatly this post was unscripted amongst us, so going to provide an unvarnished perspective:

ETHOS products are pretty much all have used over the past year plus, except when testing or trialing for artisans, passarounds or PIFs (so as to offer guidance to recipients).  The reason for primarily using ETHOS is quite simple: my skin is so damaged and sensative that am compelled to select shave products focused sharply on cushion and postshave. That is not to suggest ETHOS (soap) lacks ease of lathering, great scent and slickness - it possesses all those qualities in abundance - rather, due to genetics and life choices, my priorities need focus on the former properties over the latter.

Specifically addressing the custom Skin Food, as much as adore the original formula ETHOS soaps (and pray to God the new M & F base formulations are as blessed with cushion and postshave qualities whilst remaining scoopable and able to be bowl lathered), attribute a preponderance of the postshave benefits to the EOS goodness of this wonder elixir. From the first usage though, begged Frank to provide a more ergonomic bottle and in a larger size - these 4Oz bottles are perfect and swear the frosted surface provides better grip.  Further, have issues determining how much to pour along with uncoordinated hands, resulting in a good bit dripping to the floor rather than being spread on the face; the sprayer assures even the most hamfisted are saved from such prodigality.  Finally, it took Frank a while to be convinced just what a physical wreck is my skin but he eventually came to accept there was no exaggerating the situation and we experimented with ever higher concentrations of EOS until arriving at a personalized optimum.  To be honest,  Frank expected the difference in EOS levels to be almost immediately apparent but it took a solid 12-24 hours for the full impact to be felt. That stated, there is absolutely a tremendous difference that accrues over that half day plus versus the standard EOS levels. For those with damaged skin or active outdoors in weather extremes, this is a highly recommended option.

Another ETHOS product relied upon is the Replenish Hyaluronic Acid - it is used after SkinFood to finish off every shave.  Do sometimes use Remede Serum but only on the very worst winter or summer days (maybe 20 times a year). It is a great product but unnecessary for regular usage in my routine and skin - but when needed, it REALLY needed and effective.

There you have it, the unedited perspective.

Thank you Dan for the detailed explanation of how the customized Skin Food Splash works for you. Also, an added thanks for being so cooperative about trying new products and ingredients that I've been working on that are developed specially for people with very sensitive skin. Also just so you know in this particular bottle I added more of the Hyaluronic acid serum so this should kick things up a bit as far as skin benefits. So let me know how this version works.

Best regards!

Frank

Ok so a couple of questions for any members reading this post.

So in my soap formulas I use more Grass Fed Beef Tallow than other fats I use such as Duck Fat which is 2nd percentage wise and is always in my formulas. Now and then I’ll use Camel hump fat or just Camel fat I call them secondary fats as they are at a lower level than the Beef or Duck fats.
Lately I have been trying out my formulas using both Grass fed Bison Tallow and Pig Fat, aka Lard, aka Manteca. I have to say I like both fats and I’ve tested them in a few formulas.

So I have a question as I had one customer/friend say that if I used Pig fat in one of my shave formulas he wouldn’t use it as he would never put pig fat on his face.

I may be living under a rock but to me animal fat is animal fat other than some having different enzymes etc. would it be a religious thing that would make a person not use a shave soap with Lard in it ?

So my question is if you saw the name Lard, Pig Fat or Manteca on a ingredient list would you not purchase the soap?

I’ve read numerous articles about old soap makers using primarily lard in their bath soaps and shave soap recipes.

FYI I do see a slight difference between the Bison and the Pig fat in my formula as the Lard does seem to be a little more oily feeling but I’m splitting hairs here.

I totality get the vegan thing and the fact that it’s become fashionable these days or if it’s a religious thing or if your a strict vegan. Also there are folks that have allergies to animal fats and that’s my main reason for coming out with a vegan cream in the very near future. That set aside in this post I’m asking about Pig fat and would it be a turn off and for what reasons?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Porcine carries with it considerable baggage, particularly religious.  As you develop an international upmarket brand, it could alienate a substantial subset of your demographics.  Moreover, there is the secular issue of how pigs in particular are abused in industrial agriculture, which would alienate another and growing subset of your nonreligious international upmarket demographics, this without regard to the growing vegan demographic that is present in your market.

The fact that people in the higher end of demographics possess the education, knowledge and financial means to exercise options, is exactly why you need accommodate such sensitivities in developing your ingredient lists. The ETHOS brand states your mission embraces such and doing otherwise destroys that brand: artfully crafted•culturally inspired

My advice, particularly given the utility, price and availability of other animal fats is to avoid porcine period
