So based on some feedback I’ve gotten or read about I’ve been toying with an idea so I put that to work and I made another shave soap base. It’s got some of the skin care goodies that are found in my normal base but there are folks out there that like a hard soap or should I say a lot harder than mine has been as they want to load from the jar. So I’m sending this base out to a couple of trusted testers for their unbiased feedback on this new base. An I have options to adjust it should it need to be. I used it this morning and it’s very easy to load. Takes a bit of water which I gradually added.

( Oh and on a side note my regular base is thirsty and if you ain’t adding water to it then your not achieving the full potential of the soap in regards to slickness. )

Anyway back to the new base. So I used it this morning and what’s kind of cool is it’s still rinses clean which is a must for me but the post shave is different than the regular base as it gradually builds with time an I’ve got to see where it’s at in another 12 hrs but it’s pretty noticeable. I may tweak it a bit after some feedback and more testing but my plan is to make some soaps with this new base and some with the existing base as I think there are guys out there that would cut my head off if I changed the current base I have or should I say discontinued my current base. I’m also working on a Vegan Creme and a very special one off base that won’t come in different scents that’s specifically developed for people with ultra sensitive skin.

So my plan is to offer different bases to suit the needs of most anyone.

NOTE: Ive always  wanted  to state something that’s been on my mind for a while. As some of you know I’ve been developing skin and hair care products for over 27 years now and doing educational classes when dealing with hair products and the professionals that use them.  I’ve asked this question many times. What’s the main objective of a Shampoo?
Correct answer is... to cleanse your hair and scalp!  Can a shampoo condition your hair? Yes it can BUT it can only condition your hair to a certain extent but nowhere near what a actual hair conditioner or hair treatment can do to improve your hair.. that’s a scientific fact!

Well I feel very similar to that with shaving products. The shave soap has a purpose and it’s main purpose is to provide protection and slickness when using a sharp blade to remove hair from your face or any other hair whether on your head or body. Any post shave skin benefits you get from the shave soap is a bonus and I know some soaps do a better job of that than others but a soap cannot provide or deliver the level of skin beneficial ACTIVE ingredients that post shave products can. It’s also not my intention to produce a shave soap whether hard or a soft creme that leaves a coated residue feeling on your skin or that leaves your skin feeling oily in a matter of a hour or two after using it. So over super fattening a soap is not in my cup of tea as a  soap maker.

Also I’ll be doing a in depth post on the EOS Complex in my merchant section in the next day or two as I need to clear some things up in regards to it as I’ve read some comments that are so off base their almost comical at best.

Anyway a quick photo of the first tester of the harder shave soap.  This one has the Succes Pineapple Noir scent in it.

Great shaves all! [Image: zhmAShD.jpg]

Nice morning shave my friend and May I ask how do you like the razor? I had one many years ago and I’m trying to remember how it shaved.

It's a cool looking piece of history and when I get the blade where I like it (more forward than stock) I get a great shave. YMMV as always Frank, have a great evening. Heading to drive home from work now.....

And have some Greenfresh soap/AS on the way. I'm probably not going to stop until I have most or all of the Ethos line, it is that good.

Oh wow you added the Ice Dragon Drops to the Colonia. How did the two match up? I have to try that. I’m really big on cooling scents when the weather gets hot out. That’s when I’ll pull out the Peppermint and the Greenfresh and maybe now I’ll have another option. Wonder how the Succes would be with a couple of drops in it.

Also thanks my friend for the encouraging words and nice photo!

I'm perfectly happy with the current base to be honest, but I'd definitely try a hard base if you came out with one. I generally prefer to load from the tub, and it is a lot easier to overload the brush than I thought it would be. A lot of that has to do with how thirsty the soap is, which I love, and I'll eventually dial in the right amount to get less lather than 4 shaves worth lol

I only added a couple of drops, and Colonia is a bright enough scent that they paired up very nicely. The chill kind of snuck up on me during the shave, and lasted for quite a while after. Ice Dragon is a winner for sure, and I'm betting it will work out great with Succes.

Smattayu I agree with you about Ethos being thirsty, once you think you added enough water it still will take more, this really adds to the slickness

It’s getting warm here in Texas. I may have to order some of the Ice Dragon before it gets too hot!

I haven't tried to overhydrate it yet, but I have the feeling it could take even more than I've thrown at it so far.

Great news. I admit to be a hard puck-face father guy - would jump on your product offerings in that format. I bumble with the soft soap /cream density. Old dogs not good at breaking 30 year shaving habits

Ok Frank Dragonsbeard , this sounds interesting, and looks like I'm going to need to try out the Ice Dragon Drops... I used the Peppermint yesterday and it was nice and refreshing. It's been in the 80's this week.

I'm also still thinking I need some extra spearmint drops to add to Greenfresh on occasion.   Winking

Hi Jamie
I’ve used the Iced Dragon drops to give the Peppermint an even stronger cooling kick and it doesn’t affect the scent.  I tried Menthol Crystals and I also got more cooling but it definitely affected the scent and that’s what inspired me to make the Ice Dragon.

Yes I add more spearmint to the Greenfresh blend sometimes in the Skin Food splash to get more cooling and I’ve did it to the bath soap I just made.
