Ok it’s Sunday and I don’t expect a lot of feedback today but I’m hoping Monday will bring more people back on here.

Topic- Vanilla Safi

So first off this is just one thing I’ve been thinking and it’s been on my mind since the last release as I’ve gotten numerous emails, texts and it’s come up many times in conversations with my customers/friends.  Post shave products to go with the Vanilla Safi. My thoughts way back then were no one wants to put a straight Vanilla Aftershave or EDT on and wear the scent. Well things have changed somewhat and here are some of my thoughts why.  I have made several Custom Revitalizing Serums with the Vanilla Safi natural Aroma blend just as it is without adding any other Aroma ingredients in. It smells and works great in the serum and that’s the feedback I’ve gotten for the gents that have purchased it for not only themselves but it seems like the ladies really like Vanilla as well or even more so as some guys have said “ my wife stole mine almost immediately after I got it so I need another bottle for myself “  I’ve heard that line many times since introducing skin care products into the line up and I get a kick out of it.

Anyway so I’ve also done some Serums, Splashes and a few EDT’s for customers that either had their own strong opinions on what Aroma ingredients they wanted added to the Vanilla Safi or they have asked me my thoughts and I’ll usually stick with one or two options as I don’t want to totally loose that beautiful Vanilla Aroma that’s so warm and relaxing. Well at least to me and it’s what most others say about it that have the Shave Soap if I were to quote the majority of them.

So I usually suggest these blends.

1. Vanilla and Tonka Bean - they go so well together as Tonka Bean has its own Vanilla vibe to it but brings other notes to the table. Great pairing.

2. Vanilla, Tonka Bean and Mysore Sandalwood as all 3 I have have that nice creaminess to them that also blends so well with the other two and again having a little woody base in there takes it to another place.

3. Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Mysore Sandalwood and Red Champaca Absolute. I’ve only done two of these and one was in an EDT  and the other in the Serum. Both were for the same customer. To be honest this blend is quite expensive as Red, Yellow, Orange and White Champaca are some of the worlds most expensive Aroma ingredients. On the Normal list the Red is usually in the top 3 to 4 .. if Vintage Essential oils and Absolutes are included on the lists then prices get absolutely ridiculous expensive. I’ve actually seen a vintage Oud at $5,000 and oz! Most expensive Aroma ingredient to date I’ve run into. Anyway Red Champaca runs somewhere between $500 to $1,100 an oz. I get a good price from my one supplier but still very expensive. Good thing is it’s in the blend so little is needed to make what I call a magical aroma experience. Anyway was one blend. An sorry for the long explanation but Red Champaca that all by itself takes you on an olfactory journey like very few others. It’s almost
Sacrilegious to mix it with anything. It’s used as an Attar.

Anyway so what I’m looking for is some input and the number of people that seem to be the same page on what would be a good blend to use as the Aroma blend to go with Vanilla Safi. I’ll be interested to see how many would just like to use only the Vanilla as I’ve definitely had some customers say they’d wear a straight Vanilla.

I’m interested in hearing the replies!

Oh and have a great Sunday!

Frank

Ok so we have a good amount of input coming in. Seems like the Vanilla and Bourbon is high up there along with Tonka and Vanilla

The Tonka Bean Vanilla is an easy one as I’ve done it and it’s the safest of them al as these two are like brother and sister.

So I was thinking if I went with Bourbon I’d like to try using a nice Kentucky Bourbon and if I could get one h that’s a 95 Proof I may be able to use the real thing instead of a Bourbon fragrance oil ( lots of those ) or a Bourbon Accord. Not easy to find a straight one. Most are mixed so I’m leaning on using the real deal.

Remember I’m coming out with probably in late spring now that I’m behind a Collection called Mixology or Mixologists… not sure which one I like best so any input is always welcome. So with that said we can probably make up a few different options for the Vanilla Safi. I’d like to keep one as the staple meaning it’s the one with the Vanilla Safi Label on it. So here’s some thoughts. The absolute best Vanilla Beans come from Madagascar and guess what their names are? If you guessed it correctly then the answer would be Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans. Their the crème de la crème of the Vanilla Bean and Extract world. So a big plus as far as name goes.

So in the Mixology Collection let’s say that someone like frenchy wants to mix the Vanilla Safi with the Blood Orange to make Skin Food Splash or a Serum or dtownvino wants to mix the Lavender Supreme EO with the Vanilla Safi well it’s easy to do that in the Collection as I have a plan I’ve been working on with my website developer that will make it very easy for my customers to order and create. My take is this hobby of ours is a journey and if you look back at when you first got on board and where you are now I’m sure you’d all say I’ve come a long way. Well the train doesn’t have to stay in the train yard let’s take this to another place. I mean I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard or read comments in posts or threads about Aromas and how everyone has their own personal likes and dislikes or opinions on what if that scent had a little more spiciness or I wish it would I could smell more of the Cederwood etc etc I think you get the drift. Well how about making some of those things come true? I’ve given it a lot of thought and I’d say we start simple and as time goes on we can add more and more options . At my end I’m looking at a piece of equipment that will make my job easier and much faster putting these together.

Ok so I just went way out in left field and off topic sort of LOL

Anyway keep the ideas coming guys and thank you as always!

Having all vanilla saffi products and enjoying them a lots here are my suggestions , Frank .
First of I'm not agree that straight vanilla scent can’t be worn as edt and especially aftershave . I thing that aftershave scent doesn’t last long . Just for a moment it’s applied . But even it lasts long , its amazing and sweet scent so no problem at all.
About vanilla scent in edt : personally I have pure vanilla scent EDP ( artisan made ) and I wear it quite often and enjoy it. So don’t aware to come out with pure vanilla scent in aftershave and edt products .

Plus that I have aftershaves made by you with combination of vanilla scent .
So vanilla is just amazing with tonka bean butter (not tonka bean absolute ). One of my favourite combination .
It is also good with combination of tonka bean and sandalwood and coumarin . I have EDP with that combo and the scent is very rich and long lasting .

Guys I just wanted to let you know that I saw my Doctor today and he’s given me he green light to return to work. With that, he said I don’t want you to immediately going back to 10 hr 6 days a work week. Half days for this week and rest on the weekend. He said look what total rest did in the last 8 days since I’ve saw you.

So guys tomorrow ( Tuesday) will be my first day back to work and I’ll begin to work on getting orders out and I’m also going to get out the Tallow Shave Cremes since I made a big batch right before I got sick. So I’ll be restocking the Blue Note, releasing the new Rivello very soon as I have all the labels already and I’ll make the Rosa but will have to wait for the labels as we just finished the design for all 6 of the Rosa Products. If your wondering 6 products? That’s the Rosa F Base Shave Soap, Tallow Shave Creme, Skin Food Splash and Lotion, The Revitalizing Serum for all Skin Types and I’ve added a EDP for the real Rose lovers.

Also what’s really cool about Rose is that there are so may Aroma ingredients that can be blended into it with great olfactory experiences.

Also I’m going to play with the whole Vanilla Safi thing that’s been discussed on here. My thoughts are , in the Revitalizing Serum I’ve decided to just use the straight Vanilla as it’s not like anyone is looking for a strong scent in a serum an it’s so easy for me to add for example some Tonka Bean to it for a customer which was my number 2 choice for the serum as they go so well together. Now on to the Skin Food Splash, the Lotion and the EDT/EDP. . So my thoughts, for me it’s Vanilla and Bourbon or Vanilla Tonka Bean . I’m also going to try TommyCarioca suggestion of adding the Tobacco to the Bourbon, Vanilla and see how that goes. I’m not sure about that one because in my schedule for early Fall I’ve got what I like to call for now a 100% Natural Aroma Blend that will be my Tobacco Vanilla with notes from the Tom Ford Private Collection but the TF is all synthetic ( still like it ) but I want to do it without synthetics and it’s not going to be exactly the same nor do I want it to be but it will definitely have that vibe but it will have its own natural Aroma DNA.. So I may not use the Tobacco in the Vanilla Safi but at least i will explore the option.

DanLaw I’m letting you know that I’ve been visiting with my Jar of Vetivert and I’m hooked! So I’m going all in on the Vetivert with multiple products offering. I’ve got a very special Vetiver to use on this next batch that will only make it better without loosing what it is and I most definitely see an EDT/EDP in that scent for sure. Thought I’d mention that since I know that’s a favorite of yours my friend!

Well that’s enough for tonight and I’m very excited to get back to work and get my very patient customers their orders in the mail. It may take a few days to get to all of them out as there’s a lot to fill and ship out and I’m going to take the Doctors advice and work half days and my assistant will be back in town on the 10th and things will definitely speed up in all areas.

Have a good one!
