Hmm. Yours is the super 50mm lu20vt ? I just got the ST 55mm. Will mine be floppy or yours very firm, I wonder? The bulb bloom/diameter of the Krion also looks bigger than the burgundy one from the above photos, not just the handle. The 55mm knot must be crazy big..

I read Brave New World in high school and from that day onward whenever I see a fellow member of the human race behaving in a silly, stupid or egregious way I think ****ing epsilon. For this who haven't read the book its set in a futuristic distopian world where humans are genetically engineered for the roles they are intended to fill, alphas, betas and on down to the epsilon semi-morons who have alcohol added to their fetal nutrient at the point of brain development. They're intended to perform all of the menial tasks that require very limited intelligence.

Sorry...nice brushSmile

I sold all my Epsilon badgers for this very reason

Just kidding - but seriously I also have a problem with the name for the same reason.

Just FYI, Epsilon is the greek word for the letter E. It's how we pronounce it in Greek alphabet.

Lu's brush is the Super (2-band) with a 55mm loft, although he tells me the loft is around 53/54mm. Only the Silvertip (3-Band) comes in a choice of 50 or 55mm.

I currently own the standard Epsilon Silvertip with a 50mm loft and have just ordered the same knot in the Krion LE. The 55mm loft is excellent in the 2-Band, but I wouldn't want to go higher than 50mm in the Silvertip, based upon my likes. The 50mm has just the right amount of backbone/splay and flow through, for me.

I always said Vie Long is the sleeper brand among badger brushes.

I did get rid of all mine, because I just felt there was too little variety in specifications in the Vie Long and Epsilon line up.

My preference is for 25-26 mm knots and up to 29 mm. So only Epsilon brushes live up to that, and they only come in 4 different specs, and all are bulb knots, which is why I sold my 6 Epsilons. They perform great, but not better than my Shavemacs, Simpsons and Thäters - and all 3 brands have a better variety in knot shapes, knot sizes, handles and lofts.
This is why I have focussed on these 3 brands in my Prime high end badger collection.

But should I pick a 4.th brand, Vie Long would probably be my choice, if they made a fan shaped knot and perhaps a 29 mm and 25 mm knot size in some different handle variants. Then I would be all over them 110% surely.

That Krion is beautiful. I love the white handle. I had posted about the Krion the other day as soon as I saw it. I'm trying to avoid buying another badger but if I were to buy one the Krion would be on the short list.

We are all waiting Epsilon fan, I think this year we'll be lucky, this could be my number one brush
