Dress Boots - who knew?

And wingtips no less!!

I saw some dress boots on another forum I visit. I had never seen such a thing.  I wear dress slacks, dress shirts and dress shoes to work. Since my Achilles tear last summer my ankle is weak. I thought a dress boot might help my ankle. I looked around and selected a pair of Nunn Bush Odells in rust. They are a touch dark but I like them.










Best of all they feel great. And they give me the extra ankle support I was looking for.

Beauties. I wear dress boots, Allan Edmonds and Loacke. I don’t wear them all that much now that I’m retired but I love them. 

Sharp boots.

I like the soles on those boots PhilNH5 , it looks like rubber on the bottom with leather in between.  Mine are straight up leather with I like but not great in wet or snowy conditions.  I always wore other boots and changed at work in winter because the snow and the salt are murder on leather.  

I learned from my good friend Aurelian28  here on DFS that there is a whole community dedicated to boots of this and similar style - like engineers boots made by redwing but more.  I'll post if I can find the ones I have in mind that are the holy grail of collectors - can't remember the name - maybe these??

I know, a little steep but these are sought after. I’ve never seen or touched a pair of these so I can’t comment on quality of workmanship but I understand its top notch.

I'll post if I can find the ones I have in mind that are the holy grail of collectors - can't remember the name - maybe these??

They must have misquoted that.  Shouldn't it be 70¢?   All kidding aside, what makes a pair of shoes worth $700.00.  It seems to me that comfort (and, yes, style) can be had for way more reasonable prices.  What I find interesting is that there isn't anything particularly extraordinary about the style.  While I grant you comfort is up to the person wearing the boots, $700.00, really?!

I hear you!  But I have fly rods that are more than that.  I have hunting boots that are near that.  And in our hobby I look at companies like Sebum and Varlet and shake my head but know full well there are fellas that totally see the value.
