No worries, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Did you just get Rockers or have you got Mods as well?

Razor: Mongoose Satin w/Jürgen Hempel handle
Brush: Wolf Whiskers Custom w/Plisson synthetic
Pre Shave: Maggards Oil Cherry, Sandalwood and Vanilla
Soap: DeLuxe Shaving Grey Logo soap Rockers
Post: Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel
Post: Soap Commander Balm Gusto

I was drawn to this soap for two reasons, first being I am loving soaps with Raspberry in them at the moment, such as Soap Commander Gusto and my custom Dapper Dragon soap Bakewell. Second, I love motorbikes and the scent description pushed those buttons.

First impressions when opening the parcel from Anthony at DeLuxe Shaving were very good, neat packaging, good size 6oz tub with 4oz of soap and a wickedly designed label that just has that raw bad boy look.

When I opened the tub I found that I was greeted by the obvious scent of leather and a touch of fruitiness that comes from the raspberries. I found the leather the most prominent scent of the two but it certainly didn't mask the raspberries. It wasn't until I lathered it that the leather scent softened slightly and the other components such as lemon and vanilla became apparent. I did not detect much dirt but I reckon it still plays a part in the scent I was getting in some way. I really like this scent it reminds me of a lot of things, all good, however I would have liked it if the leather was very slightly weaker and the raspberries slightly stronger. All in all I think Anthony has hit the nail on the head with what he was trying to achieve, an attractive scent with that little bit of ruff we all crave and makes us feel manly.

The soap is a fantastic performer, it produced a very rich yogurt like lather in not time. It felt good on the face and very protective. Where I thought it really shined was how slick it was, during my rinse between passes the slickness was really evident due to the ease my fingers would move across my face. I am super impressed with every aspect of the soaps performance. Even the post shave was good and I could have not used a balm if I didn't want to.

A small tip for those that get this soap. Source yourself some Soap Commander Gusto balm - These two products work incredibly well together.

A great soap which I will be intrigued to see grow with new scents in the future. Rockers does have a sibling...Mods. If you check out the story on line it's a cool concept, I maybe regretting not buying this soap as well. I would recommend this soap to anyone, I think with the great performance and a scent which is hard not to like this will be a winner.

No worries, I will write something soon on Lucky 13. I am sure the performance will be the same so it will mainly be about the scent. I am going to be interested to see what other scents you come out with in the future.

I have now had a chance to shave with the new scent from DeLuxe Shaving - Lucky 13. Here is my thoughts.

Much the same to Rockers this soap is a super smooth player, pulling out all the performance needs quite effortlessly. I found that there was no change between the soaps I have tried so far and the impressive slickness is very apparent.

Again, this soap is presented in the 6oz translucent jar with 4oz of soap, plenty of room to build that luscious lather. I did mention in my review of Rockers the quality of the design on the labels however I do not think I stressed enough how good they actually are in terms of quality. They appear to be made of an extremely durable material that presents itself with a slight matte feel. I haven't come across labelling this good before. My dad taught me that presentation is half the battle so I admire the effort put into these soaps.

Now for the scent - love it or hate it comes to mind - personally not a scent I would have chosen from the description but having smelt it, it is quite intoxicating. Straight out the tub what hit me first was the strong incense smell, quite heavy on the nose but smoothed out by the Amber. Once wet this part fades slightly but remains dominant. Other notes come through during the shave such as a light cherry and chocolate aroma and towards the end the soap seemed to become more complex and I picked up the blood orange. This brightened the scent slightly but overall it was still quite dark.

There is a legend amongst us in the wet shaving world, a soap so chilling that even the most hardcore of us have not dared to venture into its grasp - Barrister and Mann Hallows! Lucky 13 has all the hall marks to be just as dark and mysterious as Hallows but offers that glimmer of light.

Overall this soap is another one that will remain in my den for sometime, or at least through the colder months where it will provide some warmth on those icy mornings. You will have to try it to see for yourself.

13...Lucky for some!

Thanks for the impressions- Rockers is inbound but I have to say I am interested in Lucky 13.

I agree that Anthony has done a great job in defining his market niche and I am a big fan of the branding. From the looks the performance lives up to expectation as well.

Thanks again Oli.

Took Rockers for an initial run this morning. The packaging is solid, very similar tubs to B&M, Sapone di Paolo, etc. all of which I very much like. Nice and clean, easy to load and stores well.

I am a visual person as well and the labeling is extremely well done and appeals to my aesthetic from a design perspective- will take some glamour shots this weekend to share.

On opening the tub I was struck most by the leather scent. My wife just bought me a new dress belt from Allen Edmonds and I had the same sensation upon opening the bag- high quality, comforting scent of a fine product. I also picked up on an earthy scent from the oak moss and "dirt" [still not really sure how to define that but it is becoming a mainstream scent qualifer; all I know is that I tend to like soaps that have it!].

I was not getting much fruit or citrus nor vanilla initially.

Lathering the other scents influenced if not became apparent. I couldn't necessarily pick up on specifics like raspberry or lemon but just sensed that something was softening the darker tones in the background.

Performance was stellar- of the limited number of soaps that I have used recently containing silk fibers feel that they really add to the skin feel and post shave for me in a very positive way.

Overall, extremely happy to have picked this soap up. Creative scent profile that I very much enjoy, particularly this time of year and kudos to Anthony and DeLuxeShaving for bringing this to the market!
