So last night, the 2023 One Chip Challenge was passed and other than the ring of fire this morning and my taste buds as I sip my coffee being a little off/odd, no other residual side effects. If I remember correctly from doing this in 2020 the taste buds recover when the scar tissue in my mouth heals from the torching it took. Great shave with todays set up and hope all have a great day !

Received a Paradigm Salient on loan today. Achieved a beautiful shave. I understand the RazoRock Blondie brush uses a bleached Zenith boar knot. The bleached bristles are softer out of the box. This brush is probably the best $7 spent on shaving so far.

Tonight's red Omega #10810 cost me the princely sum of $6.79 in 2021.  Like all but one of my boars, it has not gotten much attention.  Even so, it delivered nice lather tonight.

Received these four brushes today from the ever generous HighSpeed . Thank you so much Mike!

Decided to give the largest a run first, as I remember having issues regarding lather disappearing last time.

Well the Omega 48 (28mm) worked well. It was pretty soft, though it definitely needs breaking in. Unfortunately, I had to do a quick shave as I have a busy night. So it was short lived, but a good shave.

Fwiw, this must be fairly new as the tips don't appear broken yet and it shed about 12-15 hairs. Hopefully that calms down shortly.

Have a great evening folks![Image: 391a9682b29bc8a2f163ec2503d01bee.jpg][Image: 3670e8540f2519df3fedd0bfbc710422.jpg]

I never could after much use get my Stirling to break in and soften up let alone stop shedding. Shame as I loved the look of them....

Yep, it's a stunning brush handle.

Of all four, I think the Omega 23mm is the softest feeling. Probably the most broken in? Not sure. It also might just be the type of knot with the band?

Nonetheless, they all will hopefully get a test run shortly.

IIRC the softest, and most used of them is the small Omega second from the left.  I think that must be what Paul (mrdoug) means by the 23mm Omega;  I just don't  recall the sizes.  Anyway, I got these brushes at different times, but all of them quite some time ago, when I would pick up a boar brush from time to time, and generally on the cheap. With hindsight, I was impatient, and foolishly hoping for some fast breaak-in magic that was never there.  Since then, "premium" boars have appeared, but the only one I ever followed closely received a checkered reception.  So far as I know, a good relationship with a boar brush requires many cycles of wetting and drying before the tips split and soften.  No doubt it helps to start with a clear commitment to putting in the time, and a knot/brush whose quality is worthy of that commitment.
