Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
DecemBoar 3rd

Same boar brush and set up as yesterday, so no photo. Here are the details:

DecemBoar 3rd

Ever-Ready 150 with Maggard Razors Premium 24mm boar.

This past week has seen Mystic Water Sensitive Skin soap used daily. It was finicky when I switched to the boar on Thursday, giving me some difficulties getting the water used during loading right, and then the boar knot chowing down on the lather! Well, today I hit the Goldilocks amount of water for the load and had 3 passes of that wonderful MWS goodness! I used a technique that Mark on the Sharpologist blog wrote about a while back. This technique is mainly for natural fibers, as synthetics have their own needs! But you soak the knot and instead of shaking it, you use the OK finger and thumb, and only squeeze in the middle of the knot, leaving water up at the plug. Mark then recommends loading holding the tub upside down, but I found no difference other than maybe more mess?!

Whatever the case, it was a great final shave of the week with a favorite boar and a soap that has been in my soap drawer continuously since November 2015!

I dug out this drugstore Omega boar. It’s got a heck of a backbone. $15 is good value but it requires a lot more breaking in.

Just Here for the Shaves
Williamsburg, KY
Sunday Decem*boar* 4, 2022
Razor: "The King" Clark Razor
Relief Pitcher Razor: The Clark Silver King
Blade: Gem SS
Brush: Fluffy Industries #86/Oumo Boar
Soap: Areffa Soaps Discoverer
AS 1: Witch Hazel
AS 2: Nivea 2 into 1
Fragrance: Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,490

I was happy to get the Original "The King" razor by Clark when I saw it pop up for the 1st time ever.................until I shaved with it. The design had me fileted in 3 places with 2 strokes. Not due to technigue or an aggressive razor but the design and now I see why it was redseigned quickly an had a few iterations. The method for securing the blade was changed completely after the first. The original bellied the blade up in the center area of the cutting edge and hence my 2 slices. I switched to the Silver King to finish the first pass and passes 2 & 3 as well to finish the shave which was an uneventful smooth shave after the relief razor entered the game. Still happy to have the Priginal as I have NEVER seen another "The King" before for sale or in a SOTD picture. Not saying they aren't out there but I'd love to see another if anyone has one. Have a great day everyone !

Ironically, last week I used a vintage Tech with the new German Reds, and this week it is a modern Karve with vintage Israeli Reds!

Semogue 2000 this brush has a large, luxuriant low to medium backbone knot. I really enjoy it.
