"Happy to refund you for the SilkSmoke if it’s not to your liking. There is a bit of variance with the vendor +/- 1mm of the spec diameter and there is a bit of a bump. It’s always a tradeoff between backbone and splay with the bump, this knot is meant to be densely packed with less splay for good backbone"
I opted to keep the Silk Smoke although not happy with as any other I ordered would no doubt be the same and I like the color, I'll try it somewhere. I asked how to exchange the Fan and he said keep it and he'll send the Bulb for me. Good customer service. Still disappointed in the Silk Smoke size especially when the Cashmere arrived but I guess it is what it is. These are the SAME SIZE knots 26mm and I don't see how a +/- 1mm difference in core translates to this stark a contrast in bulb size..........
So I have been on the fence whether to try the Silk Smoke which I feel in person doesn't look as good in this handle or go with one of the Cashmere's or to order a Timberwolf which looked good. Frustration has had me push pause for now. Just wanted to update why there hasn't been any progress. I do feel that the handle will be fine if I just set a knot in it as is. The crack isn't noticeable. I feel if I pull it apart enough to apply a glue/epoxy that it will cause more harm than any good that would come from it. I will get to it eventually as I like the handle and especially it's name. Thanks again Eric MaineYooper and sorry I haven't got it to completion as yet.
I almost think you got the wrong knot! But I glad Andrew made it as right as possible. Other than a longer wait compared to Maggards, I have had good customer service regarding any issues, and he has been helpful in telling me how he sets the knots in the presets I bought several years back (I was trying to replicate the splay of the SynBad brushes with the new ones I was learning to do back in April.

I just ordered a Silk Smoke fan knot to replaced the crappy SmilezforMilez knot. From the reviews I read, the fan is a different animal and splays a lot better. So I'm skeptical, but I have reason for hope. Lol.
I am absolutely with you. I like a certain look for a brush. That's why Im in the same situation regarding knots. Hopefully you can figure something out with the Silksmoke. Have you tried spacers? I've been setting my brushes with 2 spacers (quarters) as of recent. So far it works well for me to get the splay I like. Wonder if that would help the Bulb SSmoke?
Regarding the Cashmere... I have one (26mm) in fan. I love it! Splays so well and I could probably build enough lather to shave a horse. I've never tried their cashmere bulb, but I gather it's a great brush too? Hope that replacement arrives quickly and in good order. Good luck!

I got a SynBad fan and it is fantastic, like you say, I could paint the house! Beer gaskets, as Paul notes below, is what I use. Although mine didn't come with any bottles.

All my (all 2!) Cashmeres are bulbs. I wonder if a fan in 24mm would look and work well in the Knothead handle I have, the purple one.

Agreed and thankful I was fortunate enough to get one reasonably priced. Thanks Jeff, looking forward to your thoughts on your new comer today...........AFTER your coffee
Mine was also a good deal. Some find the F too mild compared with the E2 but I like it just fine, it may not be quite as efficient but I think it's a better designed head.

Again makes me curious. I love my Type G and Type M. Had a Hydro Matic that I passed on to a good home, but may look for one again.
And I did as Paul suggested, getting these
Beer Bottle Gaskets from Amazon.
