I was wondering what people thought of Cold River Soap Works aftershave tonic and the aftershave splash. I was thinking about getting one or possibly both, but just wanted to see what yall thought.

All due respect to the artisan, but his balms are better than his splashes. I hate the face feel of the splashes and will not purchase them again. Too much burn and too much drying out for me. They just were not my cup of tea. Additionally, the scent doesn't last longer than about 15 minutes or so. If you like your aftershaves to dissipate quickly they are good, but if you want some staying power forget it. I love love CRSW soaps, but the AS just were not for me.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah my problem is that I get acne and ingrown hairs if I use most balms and a lot of splashes that have extra moisturizing ingredients. I've found that Fine aftershaves don't cause the problem, but I was trying to find another brand that was similar. You don't have any suggestions for me do you?

Standard Splash was what I used from CRSW. Again, it was very drying to my skin and had way too much burn, probably more than any other splash I've ever used. Now to the OP, you might like that since you have moisturizing problems. The other problem with the splashes for me was again, the scent did not last on them.

If you like the Fine splashes, I have heard GREAT things about the Folsom & Co. splashes. I cannot use anything that does not have some aloe and glycerin on them so these are off limits to me. However, many folks that have oily skin swear by the Fine/Folsom & Co. and overall, normal AS splashes that just have a few ingredients in them. Look at Maggard Razors in the Samples area. They have Folsom & Co as well as Wholly Kaw, Chiseled Face and a number of other splash samples. Ive found a few AS splashes I like quite a bit by sampling them from there.

The Replenish/Nourish combination is pretty good. Very soothing and no burning sensation.

Someone had mentioned Folsom & Co and tried to find their site but looks like they closed shop. I'll have to check out Maggards. Didn't realize they had some. Thank you.

I do not believe they went out of business, they are probably just having website issues. At least they don't mention it on their facebook page. Their website has cashed out though.

Again, I recommend trying them at Maggards.

EDIT: Just checked again, their Facebook page hasn't been updated in forever so who knows?

Yeah I had contacted them and he said they were on a break for the forseable future. I hate to fall in love with something I won't be able to get for very long. I may have to look on etsy to see if their is an alcohol splash there. Sounds like Cold River may not be what I want. Thanks for all your help.
