Again, I recommend trying them at Maggards.

EDIT:  Just checked again, their Facebook page hasn't been updated in forever so who knows?

Yeah I had contacted them and he said they were on a break for the forseable future. I hate to fall in love with something I won't be able to get for very long. I may have to look on etsy to see if their is an alcohol splash there. Sounds like Cold River may not be what I want. Thanks for all your help.

You're welcome. And see, this is where I love artisans that provide samples of things. If you really were interested in the CRSW Splash you could buy a little sample and be like, "hey this is great, I don't get that SCShaver clown." But unfortunately they all don't, so then you spend 19.95 like me on something you hate, and really can't even use. Obviously you can sell it but you lose money on it, and have to deal with shipping, etc. Anyway, just a goofy rant there but my two cents. This is why I always am loyal to artisans that provide samples and to Maggards especially, which has a TON of soap and aftershave samples.

Samples are a huge advantage and the only way I would try these. Especially if you are into the more expensive brands, buying everything blindly very quickly becomes cost prohibitive. Maggard's, Old Town Shaving, and Gifts and Care have been helpful in selling small samples of various brands.

Does maggards sell samples of Cold River?

Unfortunately, you can't get any samples of Cold River Soap Works from anything in their line. I typically do not blindly try things, but I blindly tried their soaps and loved them, which led me to blindly try the splash. You win some you lose some.

I would recommend reaching out to Shawn [hawns] at Chatillon Lux. He is quite active here at DFS.

I can't speak highly enough of his products and he does customs as well. The stock AS splash was a little too heavy on the glycerin/witch hazel for my taste so I worked with him on some customs which also included menthol.

Exactly what I was looking for and the scents are fantastic.

These are heavy on glycerin? This sounds like it is exactly what I'm looking for. I've been sampling sampling sampling away and finally found some splashes that I find very moisturizing (DR Harris, Floid, WSP). Perhaps I should give these Chatillon Lux products a try? 2oz huh? Hmm.

No, and I'm not aware of anyone that does. Your best bet would probably be to ask a user of the brand to send you samples (and you cover shipping).

I would think that you would find them just about right. I have three in the stock formula- performance and scents are great but, having neutral skin, I prefer the brace of an AS but the flexibility of a witch hazel follow up as needed. Particularly with a hot Austin summer looming.

These offer a ton of moisturizing and do contain both glycerin and witch hazel. More so than Floid from my experience.

I have mentioned before but will reiterate I also feel that Shawn has the potential to be the Barrister and Mann of the AS market with the creativity and quality of his products. Really great stuff!

PS. I forgot to mention: I am bullish on the CL AS but I have no affiliation with the company other than as a satisfied [and paying] customer!

Thanks Kevin. I'll have to contact them about a custom maybe. All the extra stuff causes acne and ingrown hair so maybe he will have a recommendation for me.

Definitely more glycerin than Floid, although I can't speak to the other two. I will say that the 2oz size comes from the heavier concentration of ingredients in the aftershave. You don't see water on our ingredient list so that a little goes a long way. I'm not saying it's better because of that, because that doesn't make it perform any better, simply that we figured a lot of people who would pick it up would probably have a lot of gear, and this takes up less shelf space.
