I received my order from Crowne & Crane earlier this week after it was held up by Canadian Border Services - they had to open it up to see what smelled so darn good
No harm done and the soap eventually arrived at my door. I shaved with the Caribbean Spice soap yesterday. I'll do my best to give you my thoughts on the soap but I've started my winter beard so I'm just shaving my neck area for the next few months so I can't give a whole face report for the time being.
Nice packaging, similar to the Shaver's Heaven tubs but slightly smaller diameter and sufficient head room for drama free brush loading. The scent of this one is strong enough, emphasis more on the spice than bay rum but you can definitely pick up the bay rum. I have soft water and lathering is usually not a problem for me and this one was no exception. I used the Semogue Owners Club boar and the lather built up quickly. Nice face feel, scent maintains in to the lather well and the the razor, in this case the Feather AS-D2 loaded with a fresh Feather blade, had no issues knocking off the stubble. Slick enough and enough lather to do a 3 pass shave. I likely would have loaded a little more if I were shaving my whole face but I don't think quantity or quality of the lather should be an issue. Post shave face feel was good and I finished off with some super hazel followed by some Chatillon Lux Tea Tree Roborant. A DFS for sure.
I think Crowne & Crane has come out with a very decent opening lineup from a quality of soap perspective and the scent selection is good as well. If you're a bay rum fan, as I am, then Caribbean Spice is likely a soap you should consider adding to your collection. And that pirate skull on the label is pretty cool as well
