ust finished my turn with the H&S Copper razor with the accompanying selection of Ethos soaps. I must admit that when I participated in the previous H&S passarounds of the TI, SS both closed and open comb, dual and mixed metal I found that despite the excellent fit and finish they were just a bit harsh and I passed on securing one. My Wolfman WR2 1.25 and 1.45 just fit the bill for me. However I still respected the razors Aji created and have watched his growth with interest. The copper was a different story. My first shave was after a normal 3 pass with the 1.45 the day before with a Polsilver. I found the H&S Copper with the supplied Nacet to be a very pleasant surprise after my previous experience. Not harsh at all, efficient, long lasting and quite enjoyable. Either my technique approved or I just got it with the Copper. Softer metal - perhaps. My second shave was with 2 days of growth and it great to use an open comb again as I sold my two timeless dual combs (TI and SS) about a year ago. I forgot how nice an open comb is after a day off. Just mowed it down with nary a worry. Repeated the pattern (shave next day, took 2 days off, shave again) and the positive experience repeated itself. Overall I was impressed and would recommend the razor for both efficiency and comfort.
On to the Ethos soaps. I consider Frank a shaving friend and have always valued his opinion even if I do not always agree with him. I have Greenfresh, Lavender, Colonia and DB V2 in my collection. I have been on a soap sabbatical for over a year now as I over 25 soaps. I have finished or given away about 5 which is a good thing as I tired of chasing the next whatever. My goal is to reduce In my experience I consider Ethos to be my go to soap. I admire what Frank has created, the ingredients, choice of size, his process, communication and willingness to work with you to create something custom. I love the slickness, scents and overall feel both during the shave and post shave. I also highly recommend Ethos Skin Food for a happy ending so to speak.
My thanks again to Dan for organizing and to Aji and Frank for thier generosity and passion to create the tools we need to elevate a humble task to something I always look forward to.
