You know what’s interesting about the BBS1? Given the prices being paid for them, neither LASSC nor James Dufour have ever rereleased the razor. Yes, that would put downward pressure on resale prices of originals but still. You have to respect their integrity.

Now that’s kind of funny, I would’ve thought that he would’ve retained the programs in his CNC milling machine.  Of course that might just be the line to keep people off his back. I don’t believe he’s a hobbyist but rather a fully qualified machinist and I don’t see that excuse flying with customers. You never know, screw ups happen. Maybe he was short of memory space. Memory was a bit more expensive 10 or 15 years ago. Maybe he puts it on a disc and gives it to the customer and they lost it. Funny, it’s the only thing LASSC did that was really good. Their soap base was ok but never improved with the market and their scents were ok but not really inspired. Myrkivor? That’s just an awful scent to my nose. No offence meant to those who like it.

So what I am reading is that the CAD files were not saved and backed up on a computer yet programmed into his CNC?  I hate to say this, but I'm doubting it and if it is true, it would be shocking.

From what I know is that the Ti1 came with just crinkle cut paper in it and the razor.  Not sure how this insert got into the box, I wouldn’t mind an insert but it’s not the way it was sold if I am correct.

I was in correspondence with John early on when the BBS-1 was first mentioned. Furthermore, I purchased a BBS-1 when they were initially released and wrote John about what was planned for the future. There were other razors in the works, but they never came to fruition and John disappeared from the collaboration. This was unfortunate as I have always felt that the BBS-1 was and still is the razor produced by Wolfman with the most comprehensive character. The ensuing Wolfman razors lack this character. I do not know whether it was because John was no longer a part of it or not, but I do know that the BBS-1 is a work of art and likely to go down in history as one most representative of its kind for its era. The BBS-1 handle is also my favorite razor handle, of which I purchased two (although John specifically stated on his website that the handles were not available for sale separately, he sold me a second one).

IIRC, that was how both mine came albeit preowned

Was the BBS-1 a true collaboration or was John a business partner? How much of the design, geometry, look etc is from John and how much is down to James?

For me it’s only feasible to think that had John not engaged James for this, the chances are quite low that there would have ever been a Wolfman razor. 

Same is true of Karve and Yates.  It wasn’t their idea, it was brought to them by others.
