Ordered one also. Jake makes great razors and if this one is more efficient than the 921M, then it'll work Smile

Three solid days of growth and it’s on with the Winning Razor & Feather. Needed to get a nice face chill in as the heat was in full force today, nearly reaching the century mark in the Garden State. Yup, Citron Glacial from Stirling. Ooooohh so niiiicce…….

Anyways, the Winning Razor & Feather combo had no issues mowing down the thick stubble in my 3 pass shave. The first pass knocked down a substantial amount bringing the stubble level to the skin. The 2nd was an ATG pass that just went through both face & neck whiskers like a hot knife through butter. There was really nothing much to get except for a few stragglers around the throat and jawline. The 3rd pass just removed those pesky ones and my skin was smooth and hair free. A slight bit of irritation on the chin and at the corners of each side of the stache as I got a little overzealous cleaning and buffing. And the first shave can be a bit harsh with a fresh Feather blade installed. But, the Stirling Glacial Citron splash covered that and in spades leaving my face super cooled, smooth and smelling nice. O La-La!!

The Winning Razor is a contender for a real good shaver. No, check that. It’s a contender for an excellent whisker reducing instrument that competes with many of the Stainless Alloy razors in its price range and a couple that are pricier as well. For the money, it’s a superbly produced tool that can deliver the goods in shave quality and feel. Jake knows his razors and shave design. I think he nailed it on this one as well. A bit different than the others in the WSC Stable as well as those from the house of YPM. Just a solid performer all around.

Word of caution. The Stirling Glacial is not for the weak at heart. The chill is magnificent but, if you’re not used to a few ticks of extra menthol in your soap & splash well, you’ve been forewarned.……

Hi @GlazedBoker
How do you compare this razor against the `Merica in term of smoothness and efficiency?

They are actually quite close in shave performance as they are both on the milder side of the shaving spectrum. But, they are not mild razors say like the Mamba .70, EJDE89, Feather AS-D2 and even the GC .68. The Merica has the tradional safety razor head design that we commonly see in 99% of the DE razors we see today. Allows a bit for angle adjustment and feel though, not much. The Winning Razor has the angular slope from top cap to guard that pretty much sets the angle for a shaver automatically. There is no window to play with on adjusting one’s angle of attack. But, imo Jake from YPM & the WSC Crew somehow managed to get a real good blending of razor geometry, blade feel & exposure just so, that it shaves nicely with surprisingly effective efficiency. They are both good shavers and are extremely well made. The finish and feel does separate them a bit as the Merica has a gritty type feel as the steel is left in its natural state with no finishing of any kind (polished, blasted or tumbled). Where as the Winning has a cleaner finish almost bead blasted to give it a bit of a smoother texture on the skin. Also, the Winning Razor has almost like a vacuum type feel or suction like where the razor just locks in once you set it to your skin and begin the shave. It’s a completely different feel from the Merica and any other DE razor that I’ve experienced to date. There is a significant resemblance to the Henson Razor but, I can’t speak knowingly or with certainty if the shaves are similar to the Winning Razor.

I used them both this morning and to be completely honest, they each delivered excellent 3 pass shaves on their respective sides. Smooth, comfortable and quite efficient. A slight buff on the chin in which I used the Merica to finish it off. They both delivered a BBS finish yet convey a different feel despite being double edge razors. They usually both deliver anywhere between 7-9 hours of whisker free shaves (in my experience which is also dependent on the blade used) which is just about right for a day at the office/workplace. Both are well priced but, the Winning Razor is nearly half the cost of the Merica which makes it the bargain of the century against any and all razor makers. I like the finish of the Winning over the Merica as it gives it a nicer feel on the skin.

They both deliver great shaves for the money. Either one will satisfy those that are looking for an affordable daily shaver that can also take on a couple days worth of whisker growth. They’re both winners in my book……  Happy2

GlazedBoker excellent comparison of the 2 razors, my experience is very close to yours, except I prefer the finish on the Merica. Both give great results for such a mild shave feel.

The winning razor is definitely a winner!! I can't believe this thing costs $50! What a steal! It's efficient enough and super smooth. The steep angle required took a little getting used to since I use a very shallow angle, but I was able to quickly adapt. I really nice the rugged finish also. I'm over nicely polished, fingerprint magnet razors.

For those following this thread, buy one!!!! It may be of the best deals in "wetshaving" (hate that term) right now.

Thanks to all the enablers here as always Smile

Razor: WSC Winning

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 975

1st shave/thoughts with the winning razor. The shape of the head and how it clamps the blade and shaves ALL remind me of a Stainless Steel Henson. I'm on the fence as it gives an amazing shave but tends to stick/grab at times instead of gliding which messes with the flow of the shave. A comfortable and close shave for SURE but the experience left me wondering if I want to keep it in the den. No rash decision will be made but those are the initial thoughts. Have a stellar day Guys !
