Colonial razors SS SE release......

I hope you guys avoid all costly made in China products like smart phones, computers etc so that with low demand, cost goes down for us who does not have an issue with Chinese products. Before replying to this post, please make sure you use a high end North American made Monitor/Laptop along with a NA made wifi router.

I personally don't care if the product is made in China as long is at good quality, the discussion was more towards the price as in this is the cheapest SS machined SE razor, it isn't the cheapest the Razorock cost less and its a great shaver. Have no clue how the General performs but other people say its a good performer.

If you have an SS Hawk and it works well for you, don't bother with the General. If you're looking for more options, I' d recommend waiting until IB releases the V3 SS Hawk.

If you have an SS Hawk and it works well for you, don't bother with the General.  If you're looking for more options, I' d recommend waiting until IB releases the V3 SS Hawk.

I honestly don't think I will buy another SE razor that uses these blades even if the RR V3 is at the same price as the V1, the alone fact that the V1 is such a good shaver I have no need for another razor.

Now when it comes to Colonial razors I'm waiting to see what they come up with the Gem style razors if they ever will that is

Razorock Hawk is machined out of 316L SS, cost $59 and made in Canada. One blade is not a razor every body would go for even if it was produced on another planet.

One thing though, you can't just go out and buy that razor (SS Hawk) unless it pops up on a B/S/T or overpriced on eBay.

Actually when I got mine it was available for purchase with days, then it came back again in stock 2-3 more times and was lingering for a while. As far as ebay prices goes once sellers saw that no one will pay what they were asking for they brought down the price to whats in IB store

That was then. Like I said, not available now.

I bought mine from the second batch and i was really looking forward to use this razor but after 3 shaves i put it in my drawer. I couldn't get a good shave from it, i managed to nick myself with a Proguard blade, something that never happened to me when i used them in my RazoRock Hawk. I thought it would be similar to my Hawk, but it's not, at least not to me. While this is disappointing for sure, it is compensated to some degree by the experience i gained. I learned that i don't like heavy razors and that unpolished SS doesn't glide as good over the face as other finishes (i noticed some drag while shaving, maybe it's the weight, but i don't think so).  I also found it to be a bit too mild, even using a Feather Pro Super didn't help with it. The price increase is actually a good thing, at least for me, it means if i decide to sell or trade it, i will probably be able to do so without much loss.

Sorry to hear that amigo. Everyone’s face is different. You gave it a go and that’s the best you can do. Sometimes is does help in putting a razor down for a bit and going back to it after a while. Sometimes it clicks when you retry it. Good thing is you already know you get good shaves from your Hawk. And that’s all that matters my friend.

Thank you for your kind words, i think i will do as you suggested and wait a bit and then try it again, if it still doesn't work for me, i will sell or trade it.

Just a quick summation as I hadn’t put this baby to use in ages.....


Wanted to get in a good and quick shave this morning and was about to bring out the Vector when out of the corner of my eye I saw the SS General partially showing a part of the razor head. It was behind a couple of other razors and it has been neglected for some time. I put the Vector back and grabbed the General. Nice, efficient and comfortable shave. Almost forgot how good of a razor the SS Gen. is. Paired with a Feather Pro and it was a 2 pass affair with some minor buffing on the chin and a quick clean up on Sir Adam. No, it’s not as manueverable as the Vector and it has a bit more weight but, that does not bother me at all. It shaves just as good as any other se razor out there today. When it was available it was an excellent value and truly punches way above it’s weight in terms of shave quality and just overall performance.

I own both the SS and Brass and they are just excellent in workmanship and quality. I honestly can’t remember if I’ve ever given myself a bad or an uncomfortable shave with either of them. With the SS you gain a nice subtle increase in shave efficiency and blade feel with just a slightly less smoother feel as to compared to it’s stablemate, the Brass Gen. Well, I should say that in my experience that is the feel that I have consistently gotten between the two. Where I feel that the SS excels in is with the use of a Feather Super as it just transforms it into a lethal yet relatively comfy whisker whacker than can take on a weeks worth of growth or more without a problem. The Brass can do it but, the SS does it just a bit better. Again, that’s just my own personal experience between the two. To be honest, there is hardly a fault that I can find with the SS Gen. It has good heft and balance that is made from an alloy that will last centuries. The knurling on the handle is quite good and provides a solid grip once things get wet and slippery. If I were to bring up a negative, it would probably be the handle length itself. I prefer handles within the 3.5” to 3.75” length and the one on the SS is just a bit shorter than the numbers I prefer. Still, it’s more than enough to get the job done and is not uncomfortable to hold and manage. Just a change of grip is all.

In all honesty with all the plus $200 razors out there in the SE world, the SS Gen was a tremendous value at the $70 price point when offered and it was even $10 lower on it’s first initial release of 100 units. Though they did get up to $100 in the last production run, I still considered it a very good deal. In the end, it’s just a great, great shaver. Period.

Is anyone know exact release date?
