Great to hear! Shipping to and from me has been extremely slow due to the damages caused by the hurricanes. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the soap.

Just finished my first shave:

I think I got the water ratio correct even though this was my first try with this. Lather isn't difficult.

The scent (Delftswit ) is superb in my opinion. But I could swear I got tobacco but it isn't - may be the ex smoker in me is playing tricks. After my imaginary 'tobacco', I got oakmoss and some vanilla. I am not very good at describing scent, even worse in English. I would say a old school barber shop scent to me. So I will leave it at that. 8/10 for me. Scent strength was almost right for me. I would prefer a little less strong. So I suppose most folks on forums would prefer stronger scent.

The slickness and residual slickness were very good. I wouldn't say the best I ever experienced, but it was good. 7.5 to 8/10.

Protection. Will comment on this tomorrow, after second shave.

Fairly easy to rinse. Face feel immediately was superb, now after about 30 minutes, my face is feeling a bit dry and little bit itchy. It isn't uncommon for me, as my face is extremely demanding when it comes to post shave feeling. better than a lot of soaps, but worse than most of my favorites. 5.5/10

The lather, face feel etc reminded me a lot about MdC. This soap is on the softer side though.

Would I buy it? Yeah probably if Maggard had them while my Edge was still active. Will I buy it with 10+ shipping from EU. Nope. But if I buy it on an impulse, I wouldn't regret it.

I would definitely re-pot it into something larger though.

Thank you, Sourav; that was great feedback! I also feel that the Scheermonnik soap is a superb performer; the scents are nice so far. I really enjoyed the slickness and post shave feel. The only parts I don't like are the price tag and the tin. I will contact Ron to ask about his efforts to find a US based vendor.

I finished my first shave yesterday.  Normally a shave cream user with allergies trying a few soaps now - I can only compare to 3 soaps and no way can I detect hints of  a scent.
Brush = Mervyn Cadman HMW  Razor = Charcoal Goods OC Lvl 1 with Med Prep blade  Post Shave = GFT Skinfood

- I was going to copy and paste @"iamsms" post, my opinion is very close
- Scent: Barber shop and mild side .  I agree with superb and I like milder scents
- Lather:  as new soap user, really impressed with the lather and first try was just right (I basically face lather)
- During Shave: nice slickness, good protection,  good for 2 passes with touch-up
- After Shave: agree with great immediately after shave, then "different" feel 15 minutes later for very short period.  Mildly dry might describe.  Easy to rinse.  No rash.
- Soap Container:  Metal and small.  My goal is maximum of  5-6 soaps/creams in my den.  Small is good - easy to finish.

I have not tried the 2 samples yet.  The Soek reminded me of gingerbread cookies

I would buy the Delftswit.  Based on scent, probably no on Soek, very possibly on the Donderslag.

Could ScientificShaves PM me with address. Will ship Monday.

Thank you for the well-written review, Standard.

I did try the Donderslag soap sample. Performance close to my review above. Scent was milder and partially close to Soek.

I would definitely recommended Soek as the perfect Christmas time soap/scent. Donderslag could be a nice fall and winter scent. Delftswit could be a nice year round scent.

As my first pass-a-round, very happy with the soaps and everyone involved. Thanks !! Mailed to ScientificShaves and should arrive Thursday.

Standard, I echo your sentiment in regards to the pass-a-round. Thank you for participating; with me living in Europe, I may have easier access to particular products and I thought it would be nice to share, especially a soap that is a bit harder to obtain (price wise). I have a couple more ideas for more pass-a-rounds, we'll see what shakes loose!

mr. smith - keep your ideas coming. I will purchase the Delftswit and may ask for a sample of the gingerbread cookie soap (Soek).
