2/4/16 Mongoose B2 with Feather Super Pro (2)

Day 2 with the Mongoose and Feather Super Pro blade was a repeat of the previous shave.  Two passes, ATG & XTG, with minimal touch ups provided a BBS shave.  A+ for closeness and A+ for irritation.

2/5/16 Mongoose B2 with Feather Super Pro (3)

A near perfect work morning 2 pass shave.  The Feather Super Pro is my blade of choice for the daily shaves with the Mongoose.  As mentioned earlier, this combo does bite hard if I am foolish.  A+ for closeness and A+ for irritation.  I will stick with this set up on more day before moving to the AlumiGoose V1 on Monday.

I'm really looking forward to how the AlumiGoose feels to you after this week with the stainless.

thanks for keeping us updated with your thoughts on the razor. I've been following this as I believe I'll likely pick one up once they're released.

Thank you for the kind words. Next week, I will be moving onto the AlumiGoose V1. After spending some time with the AlumiGoose last month, I am interested to see if my initial thoughts are confirmed.

2/6/16 Mongoose B2 with Feather Super Pro (4)

A near automatic 2 pass shave this morning.  I did chase the baby with touch ups and ended up with a BBS shave.  For me the Feather Super Pro blade is the best pairing for daily shaves with the Mongoose.  I find it smooth and very efficient but the Super Pro does require a light touch in use.  I plan on using this combo as the comparison with the AlumiGoose.

2/8/16

AlumiGoose V1 with Feather Pro (1)

Returning to the AlumiGoose vs Mongoose B2 comparison after taking yesterday off to use my Cobra Classic.  My long term goal is to use the Cobra on weekends in an effort to become more comfortable with the razor.

A great 2 pass shave, ATG & XTG with minor touch ups provided a near BBS shave.  I really can't expect much closer on a work morning.  After spending last week with the Mongoose, I feel comfortable in making some direct comparisons between the two razors.  When I refer to a razor's efficiency I am speaking to the effort required to remove my stubble and a razor's aggressiveness refers to blade feel and the amount of care needed to avoid bloodshed.

The AlumiGoose is more efficient with the Feather blade than the Mongoose.  In fact, the resulting shave is approaching the efficiency of the Mongoose with a Feather Super Pro blade.  I can feel the blade more on my face even when paying particular attention to maintain a light touch.  However, at no point did I fear nicks or cuts with the AlumiGoose/Feather combo to the degree that I would with the Mongoose/Feather Super Pro combo.

The AlumiGoose gives more audible feedback likely due to the difference in material.  Even though it is the same size, the AlumiGoose feels more maneuverable.  I love the solid tank like feel of the Mongoose but I feel the AlumiGoose might be the better razor.  Time will certainly tell if this perception remains.  When considering the difference in price, this feeling would only be magnified.  I look forward to spending at least the remainder of the week with the AlumiGoose.

I welcome comments or questions.

The Mongoose is too heavy for my taste so I am intrigued by the aluminum edition.

The AlumiGoose is significantly lighter than the Mongoose. In fact the AlumiGoose head is approximately 1/3 the weight of my B2 Satin Mongoose head.

AlumiGoose V1 with Feather Pro (2)

An automatic 2 pass near BBS shave this morning.  It would not pass a Drill Sgt's inspection but would come pretty close.  I am not one to spend a lot of time on shaving during the work week so this set up really works well for me.

Sounds great to me clint64! I think I may get my Triad/AlumiGoose/Feather Pro mojo going this weekend myself. Great shave sir and thanks for your continued thoughts.
