Samples of Sylva and Rose Santal are inbound... I have been able to spend more time TSM Fougere, and it has definitely impressed me. I have always gravitated to scents which exude quiet confidence - Amouage Dia, L'Artisan Timbuktu, Dior Bois d'Argent. While TSM Fougere does not smell like any of them, the vibe is quite similar for me.

Added a YRP aftershave to the order. It has become the equivalent of a "dumb reach" aftershave: it goes well with all of my citrus-dominant shaving soaps, and tackles florals and chypres with ease.

I can't figure out how to delete the thread but thought that you as the moderator of your merchant section can do that. I'm going to cut/paste my oops post here:

Oops - guess what? I somehow got onto last year's page and didn't notice the 2017 year.

Sorry about that hawns , but I've been so hoping for another release of BBB that I just saw the page and the that it was today and figured you'd been secretly working behind the scenes to get this beloved (yes beloved) scent out.

So, false alarm, nothing to see here.

BTW, I'm crushed.

Marko, you really got my hopes up! The silver lining to my disappointment is that I was inspired to reach for my BBB soap and aftershave this morning. I don't use them much, as I never want to run out. It remains my favorite CL scent, although Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli is close. The continuing unavailability of BBB at least allows me to remain in the 2018 restraint...

Thanks so much! I hope they live up to expectations, but I think they are two excellent scents for the (hopefully coming soon) spring.

Really appreciate it and glad the YRP has become default mode Smile

Sorry about that, there was no mischief intended on my part, I just went to the website and clicked release schedule and there it was in all its glory. Why I hadn't heard of the scheduled release before then did cross my mind but its something I've been so wanting that I just saw "pre-order" meaning that I could really stock up this time and I didn't look closely enough at the date. 2017? Sad

BBB is one of my favourites as well and it seems that the only way that it will find its way back onto the release schedule is if those of us who love it raise our voices so that hawns will eventually come to realize that he's witnessing a global demand phenomenon of epic proportions and will have no choice but to make it for us!! So everyone out there who loves Chatillon Lux Blackberry Blossom Bay, speak up and let Shawn know. I love it and I want it. I want it now, I want it yesterday, I want more tomorrow!! Big Grin

Funny you mention that. The last time i had the BBB AS on, my wife commented that she truly loved the scent...it's been her favorite ever since I got it. When I told her it may not be made again, she was certainly disheartened. To perk her up, I casually mentioned that hawns may make it again some day but not anytime soon. At which point, she gave me permission to order a case if he ever does make it again Smile

Did you search release schedule or click on the menu item? There is an "updated release schedule post" from 2017 talking about it, but the Release Schedule page is also a blog post, technically (don't ask me why, I don't understand technology) so if it was on that page perhaps there was a glitch? I can't seem to replicate it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Also, I do hear people asking me to release BBB again, but almost every one of them owns it already. Hopefully, their enthusiasm will rub off. Unfortunately, there simply aren't enough hours in the day to do it anytime soon. For now I have to concentrate on the 24 product releases I have lined up between now and August Smile

Initial Impressions: Rose Santal

Rose Santal opens up with a distinct cardamom note, which is lent some brightness from the bergamot. I thought I had it figured out as a spicy rose. But boy was I wrong!

The cardamom retreats into the background, and milky sandalwood appears, along with the rose. Together the sandalwood and cardamom give off the distinct impression of chai. This chai brew is kept warm through the use of a cleverly placed black pepper note.

However, this is a chai suitable for people who do not like chai (like me) because it is kept in check by the rose note. In some ways, the combination of rose and sandalwood notes can give the impression of honey. Rose Santal is a cup of spiced tea with honey.

As the scent progresses, it becomes progressively sweeter as the rose comes into the foreground. The cardamom never really goes away, keeping the sweetness of rose in check. In Santal Majuscule by Serge Lutens, the sweetness is kept in check the bitterness of cacao. There certainly are artistic merits in choosing to go either direction.

Overall, this is a wonderfully warm scent for this winter.

Next up, Sylva. I have it on my other hand, but it is so beautiful, I just want to experience it without thinking for now.

OK, I'm not crazy. I was able to replicate it and get the page with the beautiful BBB soap label. Click on the Chatillon Lux ad on upper right of DFS home page, scroll down the home page to Latest News, click on Post Shave Toner: A look inside the reformulation, scroll down page and click on Release Schedule on the right hand column near the bottom of the page and presto BBB. Granted, it does clearly say March 7, 2017 but really, does anybody really know what time it is? Or what year?

Oh yeah, since that is in the blog section it lists older blog articles like that "Release Schedule Update" article from 2017 in the "Recent Articles" section. Maybe I should go back and delete that blog article in order to avoid further confusion.
