I have not used the GC, but it was most comparable to the H&S NO75 while being a bit smoother in my opinion.

CG just posted in IG what the new "Everyday" razor might look like. Frankly it looks to me a lot like the stainless level 2 he is selling on the website, although I am not certain. I asked for details.

"I've spent the time designing a completely new safety razor that isn't based on any previous Charcoal designs. Planning to call this the "Everyday". Design intent is that it's the go to razor for most wet shavers. Intuitive & affordable. Production plan is 316 stainless, made in USA, $125-150."

the one I just ordered yesterday - a level 2 - is stainless but the website does not specify what type of stainless.

Looks like the new head design is on the right handle above? Maybe? It's definitely a nice design from what I can see.

He's got a good following, a great reputation for making quality product, and a fair pricetag in mind. He better make a boatload of these... They're absolutely going to sell.

I haven't yet tried a CG razor, but I'll be keeping an eye out for this one.

It looks like it will clamp the blade very near the edge. Wonder how it shaves.

Can anybody educate me regarding how many generations of CG level 2 heads there are and what the difference between them are? Also curious as to the generation of the current SS level 2 offering on the CG website.

I tried this latter yesterday and quite liked it but was curious as to where it stands relative to prior offerings.

Thanks for your insights.

There are two generations of CG heads and they look pretty different.

You have the 2nd generation SS. The baseplate has been redesigned with a modern look and reportedly is smoother, with better blade support and different blade exposure. Many people love them but they don't have the same character, uniqueness and cool factor as the first design.

This is one of my first generation razors.
