I am happy to float between DEs and artist club SEs.  My most efficient safety razor is an Asylum RX.  Seconded by an R41.  I also have a Wolfman 115/125 that I just love for daily shaving.

Would a CG Lvl3 bring anything new to my rotation, esp since I have the RX?

I also enjoy my Asylum RX and R41s (both 2011 and 2013). I find the shaves I get with the CG L3 just as efficient, yet even more enjoyable.

It absolutely would, you won’t regret purchasing one. I prefer efficient razors and my brass and copper CG Lvl 3’s will never leave the den.
I favour Level 1 and 2 Dual Combs however I have Level 3 as my OCD would not allow me to have an incomplete set.  Level 3 for ME is 2 full weeks without shaving and a slow go at it just like my 2011 R41. Smoooooooth and Efficient.  The Asylum RX; once I find a correct angle, good to go, and then there’s blade selection for it; Feather Pro-Guard is the only blade for ME.  The aesthetics of the razor, Meh. It’s quite a bit of work if you put it up against a Level 3 CG.  You can get BBS with the Asylum for sure and it has its place.  Verdict: Apples and Oranges versus a CG Level 3 DE. CG for the win and it’s an aesthetic masterpiece, speed shaving is good to go, never have to search for an angle.  Fair to say I LOVE my Asylum Evo DE, tough little razor, unique, but again, blade selection and proper angle with it, aesthics are stunning with its Darwin handle! My 2 cents....and opinions are subjective. Cheers

You talked me into it.

I can buy stainless in Lvl 3 now. But I’d prefer brass.

I could buy a brass Lvl 2 in a certain handle that I really like, and then try to trade base plates for a brass Lvl 3. How likely is that trade to be possible? Is that a hard trade to find? I see a lot of Lvl 2s out there..

I was looking for awhile for a lvl 3 baseplate. Ended up buying a new SS version and a copper handle. Shortly after purchasing, a few popped up second hand in various places. Typical, lol.

My advice is the Lv 3 SS. I'd recommend the 'Magnum' handle. It is 3 1/2", and for me the 'sweet spot' between the 3" and 4". The weight of the magnum handle makes the head heavy SS more balanced IMHO.

I'd say those who have Lv 3 brass baseplates are holding on to what they've got by and large. I know I am.

I’ve really been regretting selling my level 3 in shiny brass. In hindsight, that thing was fantastic in all aspects.

I bought the stainless steel Lvl 3 with the Florian cross.  I’m not going to risk missing out on Lvl 3.

Fun facts: St. Florian’s day is May 4th.  Among the several groups that claim him as their patron saint are the soap makers.

Thanks for the advice guys.

You’re going to be extremely happy! I like the FrankenRazor mixing and matching of CG.  There isn’t an ugly in any combo!
