Thanks.  It appears I am incorrect.  I was researching these blades in preparation for the new GEM razors coming on board and I swear I saw it mentioned somewhere (of course I can't find it now) that the GEM blades cannot be flipped the way an AC blade or DE blade could.  I think I know the source of my confusion: There was a reversible blade made for the GEM micromatics (I assumed they meant flipping the blade and that you couldn't flip it with the other blades), but I just relooked at it and that blade has no spine, but rather a second cutting edge on the back, almost like a DE blade. Thanks for the clarification!

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it was my understanding that the GEM blades can be used on one side only and that the blade is loaded with the folded spine (with the word GEM on it) towards the top plate. In the video, it appears that the blade is being loaded upside down from what I can tell (with the GEM and spine towards the baseplate). Anyone else agree with this or am I incorrect? Very cool razor!!

You are referring to the kamisori GEM blade 😛

I very deliberately flip my blades after each use, including my SE PTFE GEM's, and there has never been a problem.

Can't wait for the sabre. Must admit I wish it was artist club only because I'm already using them, but no matter how hard I try to find a DE rotation buddy for my Blackbird I keep selling them. I'm down to contemplating just buying a different finish blackbird.

I like my SE AC style Razors because it's a closer shave with my thicker/denser beard - the thicker blade gets really close but I don't like the width for those pesky areas that don't like a wider profile.

Looking forward to trying a Gem in the Sabre since it's both thicker blade but narrower width compared to AC. Other vintage Gem razors never had the right efficiency for me. Maybe With the sabre, will want to sell all my AC stuff!

So many points I can relate to here. I’m also contemplating getting a second Blackbird, because it’s simply a phenomenal razor. And I mostly like the Artist Club razors I’ve used, but they can feel a bit too wide at times. And the vintage Gems I have tried have not been quite efficient enough for me, either. (Have to admit, though, I haven’t tried the Micromatic Open Comb.)

773badger, if you end up getting the Sabre, it’d be great to read your thoughts after you’ve had it for a bit.

NICE. Love the low profile head.

Does this Sabre's angle of the cap resemble that of the GEM razors? I think the GEM razors had a good angle built in to the cap and I believe the GEM blade benefits from a shadow angle.
