It's sharp and it cuts. I like it...

No it won't be. Probably a few weeks after. I'll begin working on a polishing process for the Sabre this week.

So, it's safe to assume that you will post those on your website once the polished versions are ready?

Definitely. And we'll announce their release via all the usual channels a couple of days in advance. Unlike the machined finish, I do expect the polished Sabres to sell out quickly and often. I've been working to increase our polishing efficiency and frequency so I'm hopeful I can minimize the time we are out of stock. Polished Blackbirds will be up this week and another batch has already been started on and will probably be ready in 2-3 weeks. There will be a similar process for the Sabre.

It looks like the top cap is a little thick at the front where it transitions to the blade. I would think that you would not want the top cap to create that kind of a gap between your skin and the blade. I was looking forward to this particular one, but I am reconsidering based on the pictures.

This was no accident. The top cap comes down to a bit less than 1mm at that point. What is important to note is that the top cap contacts the blade about 2mm behind the cutting edge. This means you can effectively extend the angle of the top cap and it would intersect the blade close to the cutting edge. All this is to say that because the blade is thick it can be exposed much more than a DE blade and the top cap is well out of the way. It is completely unnoticeable on the face.

We posted a video on our Facebook page and Instagram showing blade loading with the Sabre. Having a tough time embedding on this forum for some reason, but you can head there to check it out. Smile

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it was my understanding that the GEM blades can be used on one side only and that the blade is loaded with the folded spine (with the word GEM on it) towards the top plate. In the video, it appears that the blade is being loaded upside down from what I can tell (with the GEM and spine towards the baseplate). Anyone else agree with this or am I incorrect? Very cool razor!!

I do not believe you are correct. As far as I know both sides of the blade are identical except for the stamp. I'm always open to being corrected, however. Of course, you're free to flip the blade the other way if you prefer Smile.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which side is up. I've shaved with these blades for a while now and have never paid attention to or noticed a difference between which side is up.
