Gentlemen,
Thank you kindly for your thoughts and feedback on the Blackbird.
Among the thoroughbreds in my stable, is the Rockwell 6S.
Only used the 6-plate once right outta the box, on day-old stubble...with a new Feather blade...as a wet shave infant. Excited to try my first DE, having just tossed an old 5-bladed garden rake cartridge, which was prolly a year old (no joke)...
...I misunderstood Rockwell’s system, and thought I was using the mildest setup.
Scraped hide right off the bone...
Helluva intro to the “new way”.
That was soon-to-be three years ago, and I’ve come a loooong way with this glorious “hobby” of ours. In several cases of new gear I’ve since gathered, I started out thinking this new razor is really aggressive. The 17-4 was that way, as was the Timeless Bronze.
My prep, and technique, have improved to a significant degree, and those two instruments are working very well presently.
I’ll make a final decision on the BB after a few 6-plate shaves with the Rockwell.
On new razors, or blade tryouts, I’m also finding a good dose of super-slick “Cremo” shave cream REALLY helps avoid costly mistakes, while I build a relationship with the new tool.
Speaking of new tool...<drumroll here>...just received my new Karve.
Pretty incredible Chris!
B,C,D-plates.
Feedback soon...
