This would be perfect. Shy

I would LOVE a Titanium Blackbird! Blackland Razors my top two choices for Blackbird material would be Polished Bronze, and Titanium!

Any material that will not compromise on tolerance is fine as long as the weight is between 70 to 100 grams range.

Ti has a nice weight and look but is $$$. Aluminum on the other hand is much less expensive. I have the ATT calypso which is aluminum and is fun to shave with because of the light weight.

Hi all!

I’m gonna order a new Blackbird SB, in a polished finish soon.

Already have several stellar DE’s in regular use, but it sounds like a BB should be among them...

What are the finer points I should know about this razor?

Comparisons to other razors now available?

Also, I generally prefer milder, though “efficient” razors.

Thanks

If you prefer milder razors, it might be best to reconsider your purchase as this is not a mild razor.
It has a very significant blade feel which makes it seem much more aggressive than what it actually is, especially, the Black Oxide and Machined versions.
Nonetheless, it is a wonderfully efficient razor and you do should allow a few shaves to acclimate to the razor.

I am not certain which razors you have tried, but the Blackbird's efficiency is similar to Timeless .95, ATT H1, Progress 6+, etc.
Best of luck.

Razordude I would say I prefer more mild razors than aggressive ones, but I love my BlackBird. I would, on a rare occasion, contradict with celestino. If you like mild razors but want to get just one different feeling razor, get BB!!

Pointers: it has a very strange blade feel, it might scare you, I was scared. But it won't bite you unless you press hard. If you feel too much scrapping/drag, consider working on your angle.

I have finished quite a few shaves where I felt I damaged my skin with BB. But with alum/alcohol I had 0 burn. No irritation afterwards either. It's not that you feel any tugging or pulling. Its the naked blade feel.

With time, all of these issues can be fixed. So don't give up easily. Listen to the feedback.

Also, I tend to prefer sharper blades in this razor.

I'm with celestino on this one. I find the Blackbird open comb (which I used this morning) lives in the same territory as the Ikon Shavecraft Tech, R41 (2011 version), Charcoal Goods Level 3 open comb, etc.--all considered to be among the more "aggressive" DE razors out there. Don't get me wrong--it's one of my handful of favorites--but the blade feel is prominent. Good luck. It may take a bit of patience, but the patience pays off, big time.
