I just got my bb and really trying to like it. For the most part I really do but The thing is I get a fair amount of blade chatter. I do have a rather dense growth in a few spots and see that the blade isn't clamped very much so that'll lead to it as well. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a fix? Still in my return window but really want to keep it, however I'm not sure if I will if I can't get the chatter under control.

I truly don’t know why people like the BB so much. I experienced exactly the same problem and sold it straight away. The blade is not clamped top and bottom, like a timeless or Wolfman, so not as stiff.

I would send a message to Shane about this. He’s a great guy and can offer guidance in terms of getting the best shave with the BB. If it’s a product defect he’ll replace it right away. I personally love my BB. It’s my end all be all razor. I had to adjust my technique a tad but when I did it resulted in shaving bliss.

I replied in the other forum as well.

This could also be from your shaving angle. Try using a light touch w the head flush against the face. Allow the head design to work in your favor. A traditional angle where you’re riding more of the safety bar provides a rough shave in my experience.

This should take out any chatter - I don’t experience any during use but I also don’t have dense growth.

It really is a fantastic razor. I definitely consider it too 10 in my den.

Hope this helps

I had similar issues going ATG on my head, it was neither comfortable nor particularly efficient at that particular task. Timeless, Game Changer, and others much better there for me. On my beard it was fine.

If you press the blade lateraly it will chatter. With a steep shallow angle and no pressure the blade will not move.

I also have a dense, coarse beard but haven't noticed the blade chatter with my BB thus far.

one thing I did notice with the 1st or 2nd blade I used in my BB was that when I went to swap it out, the blade was split in half..almost like I tightened the handle down too much (quite possible) or there was a lot of torque applied to the blade or something and it snapped it in half...haven't noticed it since then though.

I’ve never had chatter in my BB and it’s from the original Kickstarter release

Silliness. The high curvature, shallow angle, and high blade coverage prevent chatter. Clamping a blade at the underside of the leading edge prevents the blade from flexing if you are pressing it in the opposite direction that you’re shaving in. The Blackbird has excellent rigidity in the direction in which it’s meant to be used.

To OP, check to ensure proper blade seating and that the razor is sufficiently tight. The Blackbird clamps blades extremely well so you shouldn’t be experiencing movement whatsoever. A shallow angle is generally recommended, but even at a steep angle the Blackbird is known to be extremely stiff with no chatter so your situation is interesting and concerning. First try the tips recommended here by others and if you can’t get it solved please shoot me an email and we can get this sorted. Thanks!
