Unfortunately that’s not an uncommon phenomenon. Bay rum in name only. There ought to be a law…

I checked out Viking Revolution website. I wouldn’t call them a wet shaving artisan but more of lifestyle vendor. They list the “key ingredients” in their soap as water, sorbitol, glycerin and essential oils. That’s all they admit to. Four pucks for $9.98. I guess you get what you pay for.

Yes, they are made in China. It was a gift, the puck set of 4.... So I can't throw them away and have to use them now and then. The performance is ok, I've had worse shaving soaps.

I often wonder who buys those sorts of products. Now I know. People who know nothing about wet shaving buying gifts for wet shavers.

I think that’s a significant market. It’s unfortunate because they mean well but don’t know what to buy. They should consult another wet shaver. A forum would be a good source for gift ideas too. What isn’t useful is a google search that will bring you a bunch of hits claiming to tell you the ten best whatevers none of which are any good. Amazon does have some decent products but it also has lots of weak products too.

Thanks Marko. I have been eyeballin' that for years. What makes it intriguing is if I don't like it, the bottle is glass and I can feel it with whiskey.

This shaving cream is not a traditional bay rum flavor, as it does not contain bay or rum. It is rather a modern interpretation of it, which nevertheless has a pleasant fragrance and very good shaving properties. It evokes similar associations in the base note. I like it very much.
