That’s my point! They’re unpredictable!! No one can tell what a balm will do. Smile

That was a pretty funny Seinfeld episode.  I’ve used some bay rum balms.  I will say some are spicy so be careful!

[Image: Gowq32B.jpeg][Image: 9uPQXwt.jpeg][Image: k16aZXV.jpeg]I recently bought a new bottle of Royall bay rum. It’s the new mix that someone above said wasn’t as good as the original. primotenore maybe? I still have about 1/3 of an older 8oz bottle and a full 4 oz left which is good because this new stuff isn’t nearly as nice as the older stuff. Those other two are still made in US under license but they smell way better than this latest one. To make matters worse, the new stuff is expensive.  It does happen, although rarely, that I find a bay rum I don’t like.
Nice bottle though.

A suggestion. Go to Lotus Gardens online store and get a small 10 or 15 ml bottle of "Pimenta Racemosa" West Indian bay leaf essential oil and put some in that bottle and it will kick it up a few notches. I’ve done that with a couple of Bay Rum aftershaves I’ve bought and it really makes them better..

Royall and St John's were signature scents way back in university. Having used both recently, can state emphatically they nowhere near as projecting and lack any longevity

MacDuff’s did a decent Bay Rum back in his version 2 or 3 soap. I’m hoping he does another one at some point. The world needs more Bay Rum. I think Bay Rum ended the Pirate Wars. All these angry, formerly stinky and combative pirates discovered bay rum and just calmed down and sat around smelling great and agreeable (that’s important) and stopped plundering, preferring to earn honest livings making and selling Bay Rum. At least that’s how I heard it…

But at the premium price Royall charges, why should anybody be required to pay extra for ingredients to wring any performance out of their products?
