Please say it ain't so! That is my favorite Latha scent. Are you saying I should start stocking up?

I really like the scent of Oceana. The performance of Latha is very impressive and have had great shaves using it. I must say this and I hope it isn't offensive, but I was just asking myself "How did I shave within this stuff when it first came out?"

The initial shaves were fantastic and it was like I was falling in love with the new formula but now I'm glad I can enjoy the other offerings scent wise. The black label is feminine smelling to me and very dry or powdery. Two things that I am well and okay with but for whatever reason they don't agree with my nose.

Maybe LPT or Taiga to use in the winter months. Maybe I need to give a tub of Limon another whiff to see if the rose note is calling me.

What scent is that ?

I own 3 Black label soaps, and they are all great smelling.

Only one missing, to the best of my knowledge, is the Beaudelaire, which I will soon acquire, as it's now released as part of the new 'White Label' (De luxe) line.

So which one is it, that a lot of people don't appreciate the scent of, Will ?

It's Latha Original. But I think you're a bit turned around as far as the lines and bases go. Beaudelaire was indeed part of the Black Label line, but will be a limited release only in the Glissant base. "White Label" was a colloquial name given to the original soap base to distinguish it from Black Label (and also in reference to its distinctive white packaging), but the base is being fully changed over to Glissant. There will be two bases only: Latha and Glissant, which we'll be referring to publicly as "Classic." Cleaning up the designations across the board. Smile

Not just yet. I have something I want to experiment with first, so Latha Original will hang out for awhile yet.

Thanks Will for the explanation.

Just to be sure - the Black Label line, it was 4 soaps totalt, correct ?
Was the Black Label line any different than the white label line - or just a different packaging ?

Just four soaps, yes. And the formula was a bit different, in many ways the forerunner for Glissant. Black Label jars also contained 5.5 oz rather than 4. Smile

I enjoy the Limon Latha very much, my wife uses the velvet soap and balm and just loves it.
Thanks for great soaps, I have only started with your brand recently and have 5 so far.

Latha is a great way for me to use Barrister and Mann products as I try to stay away from Lanolin. I only have two soaps in my cabinet now that have lanolin and they are both Barrister and Mann (Adagio/Cologne Russe just acquired and used a couple times) so we will take one final spin with lanolin soaps and use them sparsely. I find myself breaking out if I use too many lanolin soaps and don't completely scrub my face and neck after a shave (my nose especially). I know that sounds weird but I've tested this many many times. Zero lanolin soaps: no breakouts. Regularly using lanolin soaps: tons of acne especially around and under my nose.

Nevertheless, Latha is awesome because I get to use great performing B&M products without the lanolin concerns.

Yeah, lanolin can be comedogenic for some people because of its weird chemical structure. You should see the stuff before we melt it down; has the consistency of axle grease. Big Grin

Thats hilarious. I'm glad to get a confirmation of that from a soapmaker. I'm going to give a couple soaps with lanolin one more try in small doses to see if I can use a couple here and there because many of the upper-tier performing soaps out there have lanolin. Thus, I decided to start over one more time with them by trying a couple Glissant based Barrister and Mann soaps a week ago. We will see how it goes, if I have success with keeping my face cleared up the rest of this season I might add one or two more upper-tier Barrister and Mann soaps to the fall/winter and call it done for lanolin soaps.

Latha is an excellent stand-in in my humble opinion, and performs fantastic for me so its cool to be able to have several of these in my cabinets.

Oceana is amazing! It'll be the first tub of soap I'll actually finish
