Is the scent similar to the one experienced during the dry down of Aqua Velva?
I've read many descriptions for it, including one saying " freshly cut, not completely seasoned wood scent with some spiciness and a bit of smoke and leather added in" ...

2e20, believe it or not I've never used Aqua Velva so I don't know what the dry down is like, but I have smelled it at the store and LPC smells nothing like that to me. The freshly cut wood with some spiciness sounds close, but I don't get any smokiness or leather. On top I get a sharp sort of citrusy note (petitgrain?) with an underlying oakmoss scent. I think that's the part I don't really care for which is weird because I usually like earthy/green type scents. It's the same smell it didn't really care for in Mystic Water's Vetiver & Oakmoss soap. Overall I like it, it's just not my favorite.

wyze0ne of course I believe you: I have used AV only three times in almost five years of wet shaving ;-) I must say that I don't particularly like the dry down that resembles something like "freshly cut wood" (at least in the version sold in EU).
If you get citrus (in the form of petitgrain) and oakmoss from LPC, it should be perfectly in line with the scent profile.

I went out to the The HandleBar Barbershop and picked up a tub of Latha Lavender/Oakmoss/Heliotrope. I've used it once and and I really like it for all of the right reasons. Looks like I will have to pick up a few more fragrances.

I love B&M Latha Le Petit Chypre. I have the soap and the splash. Great performance, great scent, and great price! I can definitely see some more Latha scents in my possession in the future.

I think at this point LPC, Taiga, and Oceana are my favorites of the line.  It produces such an incredible lather.  My wife is just now getting into wet shaving a bit, and we used Limon to make a Latha for her and she had great results from it.  Super slick when I was showing her how to use a razor.  I still cannot believe this line of soap is $11 a tub.

I find the scent bit weak but otherwise good soap. I got the sandlewood one.

I bought the sandalwood too but it really isn't easy to smell the sandalwood, which is one or my biggest complaints about "sandalwood" scents. So many of them have other notes that really overpower the sandalwood. GFT and TOBS are examples of this while AOS is my favourite because it's actually dominated by the sandalwood EO.

I own the Original Latha, and while I think performance is excellent, I think my 14 regular B&M's gives me a slightly better cushion/protection during the shave and a better post shave feel.

I may be imagining things, because Will will know exactly if I am right or wrong, but all in all I prefer the original higher priced B&M's over the Latha line. Also enjoy the wider containers the original comes in (used to dislike the wide white pots, because they felt a bit flimsy, which they are not (a conclusion I came too after using them, not just screwing the lid on and off) so now I love them)

I wouldn't say you're imagining things, no. The high butter content of White Label and the new Glissant base, in addition to the coconut milk, castor oil, and lanolin, provide for denser, heavier, more protective lathers. Latha was never designed to be as good as our flagship stuff; it was designed to be a simple, easy-to-use, highly effective soap at an affordable price, with easily accessible scents. Smile

We're actually upgrading the jars for our main line and using heavier, more durable plastic. We found a new company to do the work for us and all of our new packaging for what will become the "Classic" line will utilize that same jar architecture. The new packaging for Latha will utilize the same jars in which the soap is sold now, though.
