Barrister & Mann Latha Line

Love, love, the Sandalwood scent. I was prepped to trash it when I got the sample in because I was disappointed it wasn't a true Sandalwood. My daughter, who is my secondary scent tester after my wife, wanted to smell it. She was over the moon about it ,and so I gave it a fair shot. Now it's one of my favorite scents. Go figure.

Fair enough. It doesn't smell all that much like sandalwood, though, really. It's a fruitier, amber-ier take on it.

I would agree- I just received a container and have not shaved with it yet but to the nose it is fruit forward. The black currant forward with a base of sandalwood. Looking forward to checking out the scent in use but definitely not traditional sandalwood from my experience.

That has been my experience as well.  It doesn't smell like any Sandalwood soap orncream I've used before.  I look forward to giving it a go tonight for the first time as well.

Now if only there was a matching splash

See, that's what I didn't like about it to begin with. After that, I just really started enjoying it.

There's nothing else out there, that I've smelled, that's like it.

I just ordered my first tub of B&M Latha, Limon, and am looking forward to getting and trying it.

Just so you all know, I'm not trying to bump this thread but wanted to respond with my results from using Latha Oceana at a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee:

Explosive, just like anywhere else I've used it. Latha in soft/hard water, does not matter, it kills. Excellent stuff.

I agree that it's a nice scent but like so many sandalwoods out there (e.g. TOBS and GFT) the sandalwood is just one note and it's almost impossible to detect it. I prefer the truer, earthier versions such as AOS, Pedal Pusher Fancies, and even Proraso. Although, I like TOBS and the Latha they just aren't sandalwood to me.

The only Latha I have experience with is Le Petite Chypre (thanks to the generosity of drjenkins!). The performance is outstanding, but I'm not sure I'm in love with the scent. We'll see though, I've only used it twice. The only minor knock I have with it is the smaller tub size which I can certainly understand given the price. A soap of this quality cannot be beat for $11.

I like that Barrister_N_Mann riffs on sandalwood rather than just giving us another "true" sandalwood. I mean, how many "true" sandalwood soaps does a person really need? Furthermore, Will did indicate on the label that there is more in the scent than just sandalwood and frankly, I'd be disappointed if a Barrister & Mann soap smelled just like any number of other soaps. Even his Bay Rum smells unlike any other Bay Rum soaps that I have - its a Bay Rum inspired Barrister & Mann soap just as the Sandalwood Latha is a sandalwood inspired Barrister & Mann soap. Its all good.

I tend to agree Marko . With the Latha on first use all I picked up was the Black Currant. It wasn't unpleasant but definitely dominant.

As the shave went on I started getting the sandalwood/amber. Pretty cool and what I would expect from Will.

No "in your face" but more of a blend of different things that makes it a Barrister_N_Mann production.

Get that it may not be everyone's cup 'o tea, particularly those looking for a straight up, more traditional sandalwood but I like it.
