It's not especially similar to either. It's "airier" than both, if that makes any sense. No ozone either.

So the 'dirt' component is minimal then?

Definitely. It doesn't smell like dirt in any conventional sense of the term.

Will, what ingredient(s) make the "airier" component of the scent?

Afraid I can't tell you that. Chemistry trick. Smile However, I WILL tell you that REAL petrichor is actually the smell of the molecule Geosmin ($35/gram), which is a distress chemical released by spores in the soil when agitated by falling water. Basically, they're screaming for help.

Happy shaving. Big Grin

Learn something new everyday. I thought it was something to do with the rain and what was in the air to cause the smell. Now I have a better way to describe what I'm smelling.

Now I'll be picturing my soap screaming everytime it gets lathered Big Grin

Screaming Spore Death could double as a new name for the soap, and a name for a Metal band.  Evilgrin

I rather like this idea. You know, someone ought to start a line of "Metal Soaps." A few names, off the top of my head:

Screaming Spore Death
Apocalyptic Razorburn Prevention Application
Arctic Death Juice
Murdersoap

The possibilities are endless!

As long as MurderSoap had a scent like cotton candy, or something really happy.
