I got my order of the winter releases in yesterday.  I have to say, without question, First Snow is the apotheosis of winter soaps.  The frangrance to light menthol ratio is perfect.  I have an original jar of of First Snow that I guard carefully because I loved the scent so much,  This new version is even better.  The Glissant base provides an awesome shave and I feel like I'm walking out of the house this morning to go get into my sleigh.  Well done, Will.  I'm so happy you brought this one back... now, about Petrichor...? Smile

PS - Top three seems to be a running trend

In no particular order

Petrichor
First Snow
Hallows

Honorable Mention - LGC

I haven't received my First Snow yet but I'm even more excited after reading your comments and seeing that you list Petrichor among your top soaps. I love that one and I too have been rationing it but I'm starting to see the bottom of the tub. It would be great to see Petrichor return.

Barrister_N_Mann said that he will publish the 2017 release schedule after the holidays... less than a month left!

I noticed you like petrichor and LGC. Me too. I can't wait for the 2017 releases. 2017 will be an epic year for b&m fans like myself

tommy3am , as far as Barrister and Mann is considered, its like that old "Cabaret style" add for Hochtaler wine, "Its always a good year!" Smile

First Snow and Dickens are incredible. This is my first year of trying them both and I'm seriously thinking of getting one more of each as Christmas gifts for backups.

Latha is cheaper, the scents are simpler and less unusual, and the soap is formulated to lather better in hard water. An every day, workhorse sort of soap, if you will. Smile

Perhaps the greatest marriage of the two styles that I've ever encountered is a rather expensive perfume from the Netherlands called Puredistance Black. A pretty silly name (seriously, sounds like a running shoe), but a brilliant perfume. One of the greatest masculines in recent memory.

Will, you've just reminded me of why I enjoyed your fragrance/scent blogs so much.  I know there's lots on the plate but will we see another blog/newsletter at some point not too far down the road?  I'd go and re-read your pre-newsletter blogs but they're no longer on your website.  Are they archived somewhere ?  I knew I should have printed them.Smile

I now have an interest in experiencing these Southern China and African oud.

I'm thinking of bringing some kind of publication back in the new year. Smile Reddit's /r/wet_shavers served as the sole host at the time, and, with the collapse of the sub, the content was lost except for my personal archives. If I do a blog again, I will be hosting it myself. I will not risk another bout of watching all of my work go to waste because some dimwit with a God complex decides that he doesn't like where "his" community is going.

A co-worker of mine was wearing Christian Dior Oud Ispahan a few weeks back.  I immediately knew the smell and it was very blahhhhh...not sure if this is good quality oud or what though.  I had a similar experience when I was in Dallas a few weeks ago - this lady smelled like she took a bath in oud.  gross!

That would be the harsh, synthetic, truly vile type of oud I mentioned. Dior doesn't make perfumes with real oud. It's highly unusual for ANY Western house to produce a fragrance that incorporates real oud (this goes for Creed, Dior, Guerlain, and various others). Perhaps the only major house that actually uses real oud in its designs is Amouage, which does so on a limited and very expensive basis, and only keeps up the tradition because it's the personal perfume house of the Omani royal family.

Will!  You just described every political leader in history!

Its good to know that there will be something coming, however, tragic to learn that so much was lost.  Why is it that with the internet today, valuable content can be lost for all time with a keystroke yet that one picture of you puking your guts out after too much tequila will follow you to your grave?  Seriously, some twit will think its funny to slip it into your memorial slide show at your funeral.  Yes, Mark was not a perfect man, he couldn't hold his tequila. Oh, I forgot - I have a question: I want to move my B&M aftershave bottles out of the cabinet and display them on a shelf. I noticed that some of the bottles are tinted glass, while others aren't. Will light affect the longevity/chemistry of my aftershave over time?
