That's perfectly fine. Lol
Every nose is different. I for one can't stand most aquatics, but this is one of the most popular cologne genre's out there.
With all the stuff I've been reading on Social Media, this is perhaps why I didn't jive well with it. The vilest, meanest and most disgusting vitriol that used to be, no one in their right mind would say is becoming acceptable.
I have FB and twitter for my needs like WolfWhisker announcements and such, but I don't enjoy the platform, it also confuses me.. lol.
I find oud to be quite repugnant. I don't want to muddy up Will's thread too much though. we can start a new thread if you'd like.
I used to say the same until I tried the genuine article, a beautiful oud from Southern China. Western ouds are mostly synthetic, harsh, and deeply, deeply unpleasant. Proper ouds, especially those made by the perfumers of Mumbai, are another thing entirely, as quite remarkable.
Perhaps the greatest marriage of the two styles that I've ever encountered is a rather expensive perfume from the Netherlands called Puredistance Black. A pretty silly name (seriously, sounds like a running shoe), but a brilliant perfume. One of the greatest masculines in recent memory.
Additionally, Barrister's Reserve is now back in stock, folks! As a reminder, all Reserve products ship for free within CONUS. Please let me know if you have any questions!
A co-worker of mine was wearing Christian Dior Oud Ispahan a few weeks back. I immediately knew the smell and it was very blahhhhh...not sure if this is good quality oud or what though. I had a similar experience when I was in Dallas a few weeks ago - this lady smelled like she took a bath in oud. gross!
Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.
Oh man,
I got my order of the winter releases in yesterday. I have to say, without question, First Snow is the apotheosis of winter soaps. The frangrance to light menthol ratio is perfect. I have an original jar of of First Snow that I guard carefully because I loved the scent so much, This new version is even better. The Glissant base provides an awesome shave and I feel like I'm walking out of the house this morning to go get into my sleigh. Well done, Will. I'm so happy you brought this one back... now, about Petrichor...?
Karl
PS - Top three seems to be a running trend
In no particular order
Petrichor
First Snow
Hallows
Honorable Mention - LGC

Yes, but she liked it and probably felt very good about it. The beauty of scent is its so subjective. After reading an article, possibly a post on DFS, on the phenomenon of nose blindness it made me question whether I actually did smell as subtly as I thought I did when I go out into the world or whether I was just no longer smelling it and I actually smelled like I'd bathed in aftershave to the rest of the world. I'm sure that woman didn't think "I haven't bathed in a while and really reek so I'll just bath myself in a quart of this perfume so I'll smell nice". Its best to have a neutral person around to let you know when you've perhaps overdone it. Wives are great at that - if a man expresses an opinion and his wife's not around to correct him, is he still wrong?
